Who cares. Hagel laid a cheap shot on Barkov, he got it back.

Honestly if Barkov would step up immediately after the hit, its probably a 2 min and no suspension but result is the only thing who matter to departemebt of player safety. It was clearly

It's the only hit of 4 who was not a clear attempt to injury. The fact barkov stay on the ice made look worst the hit

I don't disagree with this, and I am praising Tanev in my posts, I just think he has become the most overrated player on this board because of what you just mentioned, we have had a gap there and he has filled it.

I'd take the version of Muzzin we had over this version of Tanev for example, and I think people here would call me crazy for it.
Yeah and I’d take Borje Salming but I heard he’s not available.

I'd like to believe in TOR being a slight favourite due to the regular season standings. Conversely, reigning Cup champions tend to not fall off somewhat precipitously a mere season later. Realistically, this series should prove to be a close one in which the outcome should barely surprise. In any case, GLG!!!!

Sure pal. You know for a fact that there was no clear attempt to injure? Barkov never touched the puck. Looked pretty clear what the intent was

Ottawa was a pretty close series, anything but easy IMO.

I had plenty of hope 2 years ago. We added a TON of talent at the TDL, Florida took out Boston for us and we were substantial favorites against Florida with the best roster on paper we've had in over 50 years.
Wrong coach, D and Goalie though. It is a significant difference.

Just watch game and everytime you saw a contact in playoff when pleyer didn't touch the puck bit still get hit because the puck is in the area.

Personally what i saw in that play is a player in a 1v1 battle who's thinking the puck was still there in that area trying to play physical to win his positionning but at the end the puxk was not at all where he think it was... but yeah it was clearly a penalty for sure but for me the result on Barkov made it look worst

The difference exemple vs tkachuk on guentzel who was a similar hit...when tkaxhuk change direction to go on guentzel knowing exactly where the puck was and still charge guentzel...

Wich one is really worst, 2 player in a speed battle for the puck who didn't really know where the puck was behind the net or the guy completly changing of direction to hit someone without the puck. Both was dangerous i'm 100% agree with it but only one of those 2 was a clear injury attempt

So that means every Leaf is on PEDs. Marner, Matthews ? Do you consider Creatine a PED ?
It is against the rules to point out any specific names in regards to this topic.

And no, creatine is not a PED.

I've taken creatine on and off since the mid-1990s. After a lot of trial and error, I found that I really only saw results from it when I took triple the recommended daily dosage. That becomes a chore after a while.

Looking back at the 2023 series all the scores were pretty close. 4/5 were one goal games (the other was a 4-2 Florida win,) and two were overtime. Now obviously the series wasn't close as Florida won in 5, but I wonder if a big reason for Berube's system and the grinding out leads is/was in preparation of an eventual Florida series.

If they can win the 3-2 and 2-1 games they can win the series. Stolarz needs to be a bit better and stop with the 3rd period goals against. McMann needs to wake up and be a force on the second line. The third line needs to do what they did on the Patches goal.

Florida didn't become a powerhouse until 2023 when they knocked out Boston after that crazy season and then rolled over Toronto and Carolina. Prior to that in 2022 they won the presidents trophy and then got swept by Tampa in round 2. Toronto needs to stop being the team that loses to the team going to the finals. It's their turn to go to the finals and rewrite the book.

Florida lost to Tampa twice in a row before owning then the past two season. I don't care if it's ugly or how good/scary Florida. Leafs need to rise to the occasion and claim the division for real. Then the conference. Then the cup.

I didn't think the series was as one-sided as is portrayed. Each game the Leafs were either tied or leading in the 2nd period. Inferior goaltending and defence was the downfall.

Predicting Knies will ragdoll Bennett, they'll scrap somepoint this series
Part of me just wants those two to line up at the opening of game one and Knies tells him he has something he has to account for and they go right then and there and just get it over with and Knies beats him up with some tricky lefts and sets the tone for the first game.

Average shots per game for the series:
33-29 Leafs

High Danger chances in the series:
84-70 Leafs

Goaltending numbers:
Florida: .943
Toronto: .909

Can you believe that team with Bob beat the team with Samsonov?

Seems so shocking to some.

Our team is better but Florida's team is quite a bit better than the last time we played them in the playoffs and of course we were beat pretty handedly.

Florida has added Jones and Marchand. Essentially a 1st line winger and a 1st pairing D man.

I'd argue Florida is better on paper this year than last year.

I will say this the Hate for Marchand on this board will certainly be at a boiling point after this series!
And I'll throw the right bower of Matthew Upchuck and trump your player. We all know MT is going to do something almost criminally stupid that Marchand can no longer do.

Going to be a very tough series for the Leafs. Let’s hope they surprise us all and eliminate the Panthers!

This is going to be a grinding, low chances series. The Panthers ground the game down to a low event game and waited for TB to make mistakes. Toronto needs to be patient and grind the game down to a boring piece of poo. It comes down to burying the puck when you have those opportunities and burying Bennet, Barkov and Reinhart when you have a chance,

I don't want Knies to get beat up... Bennett has lost one fight from what I've seen, and it was to Zadorov.
It's hard to know what Knies limitations are. He's a big strong nasty dude with young buck energy, but still pretty new.

Bennett is as tough as they come though, thats certified, very scary fighter.

Probably best avoided for the time being.

Someone needs to get the Ekblad treatement in Matthews wrist

This is probably one of our best chances at a run and of course our best shooter can't shoot.
