That’s quite the stretch

Did you watch the summary video he’s talking about? Look at how bad defensively Tampa was. Numerous goals where there’s a defender nowhere in site right in front. Absolutely terrible.

Ottawa was a lot tighter on D and he’s not wrong

That’s quite the stretch

not at all

14th in hit
11th in blocking shot
15 th in giveaway
15th in takeaway

No responce at all when hagel got drilled by Ekblad or when girgensons get boarded... They didn't look like as team but about individual playing alongside other player.

When are we putting up the Round 2 Predictions Poll (e.g. Leafs in 5, 6, etc.)? Curious to see what everyone thinks going into Round 2.

That Trolly guy. No surprise.

Leafs have to really want it more. They have to EXPECT to beat Florida. They lost 4 games in 2023 by a single goal and this Leafs defense core is deeper. Better goalie and more comfortable in quiet, one goal games.

Florida has a constant cycle of forecheckers so the team is going to need to play defense by committee, frustrate Florida. Goad them into penalties while also never backing down from them.

The way I see this, just as it was with Tampa when Leafs lost in 7 games; if they beat this team they can go on to win the Cup. That's what this matchup represents.

They have to focus on this team of course while also expecting to go further. Expecting to lift the Cup.

I agree, but that's not the case here, you have two good goalies so it's a matter of sticking to what's been working for you already. The fact that Stolarz has never carried such a big load before is also a factor. Not saying he can't do it, but how sure can you really be that he can? Woll was also amazing last playoffs, up 3-1 seems to me to be like the perfect time to get him in there and as I said, it would almost certainly be for one game only.

I'm not one to push the he's never had this much work before idea. Of all positions goalie is the most volatile least dependent on experience. Rookies are constantly taking the crease by force and going deep or winning the Cup. If you're hot at the right time it can't change your life.

I'm a big fan of Woll. Over Stolarz even until Stolarz went full nostalgia hockey for me looking like Cujo taking penalties.

I see your point about game 5. Win and it's back to Stolarz for round 2 since he's still 3 - 1 and has looked good. Lose and you're back to Stolarz for game 6 with some rest. It would have been the most palatable time to try the idea. I just think the risk of losing the series with an included premature goalie change is optically too bad.

I'll post here as I guess I'm not allowed to post in the main board... whoever mods over there needs to touch some grass clearly. 1 "Florida" fan can be a cringe fest and you aren't able to engage him I guess. Always great to feel important!
I see this going 7, maybe even 6. Toronto takes this one.

A couple of years back, Jake Muzzin absolutely broke M. Tkchuck by softly flipping a puck at him. Completely son'ed him and unravelled that CGY team.

Tkchuck will continue to show his immaturity, and on the national stage, will get the better of him. Just like in the 4 nations, Tkchuck will demonstrate his lack of self awareness and cost his team the series.

I think you bring in Kampf and pair him with McMann and Holmberg on a no event hockey line. They’ve been pretty useless offensively anyway.

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Patches - Tavares - Nylander
Lorentz - Laughton - Domi
McMann - Kampf - Holmberg

Robertson and Jarnkrok sit

Florida doesn’t give up much 5-on-5 anyway.

Honestly… Matthews wrist looks f***ed up. I watched a replay of that first goal and he barely could turn it to put the shot on net. Very flat and on the ice, no power or airtime on it. Medical staff better shoot it up with something or we have no chance. We need Matthews to be a factor

Yeah I'm not sure if workload is an issue, just saying it's maybe something to think about. I just feel like if we're going to go all the way, we will probably need Woll at some point and if he's going to play, then game 5 seems like an ideal time to do it. Just thinking out loud, not saying it was mistake to stick with Stolarz, there's an argument to be made both ways and maybe Stolarz plays every game and shines. I'm just saying I would have seriously considered playing Woll in game 5, that's all.

you know it was actually a pass/tip attempt and not really a shot on 1st goal?!?!?!

After 1 bad game in 4 game, you don't change for this reason. If its the case every staring goalie should had been sit because they all had a bad game where they didn't look pretty good.

Leafs had no reason during the complete series to remove Stolarz

The reason wasn't that Stolarz had a bad game, maybe try reading what I said more carefully.

You're in playoff so you don't dress a goalie just to keep him warm in case you need him later. You play the guy giving you the bewt chance to win and that stop here it since 2 month that guy was clearly Stolarz... So no reason at all to put Woll in.

If Stolarz would had an other bad game in gm 5, It should had been considerated but was not the case.

Stolarz allowed 2 goal or less in 5 of 6 game...
