23 games . 5 points.

He was a reach at 19, and is having as disasterous of a freshman season of any first round forward draft pick I can ever recall. Can anyone name a first rounder who has been as ineffective as a college freshman as JOB?

@Tripod is one of the worst posters. He started off strong, but has really sucked since xmas break. Has any poster on hfboards had a streak of incompetence like the one we are witnessing from him.

I'm just hoping JOB can be a trade chit to get us a good veteran for a run in 2021. Anything he does beyond that is just gravy.

Dude's been in the Flyers organization for 8 months and is already, seriously, being labeled as a bust by some.

Dude's been out of high school hockey for 10 months and is already, seriously, being labeled as a bust by some.

Dude got cranked twice in the beginning of the season and missed a load of games and is already, seriously, being labeled as a bust by some.

Dude is like 96 lbs and physiologically is still shaping into an actual adult body and is already, seriously, being labeled as a bust by some.

Dude made the WJC team fresh out of high school and is already, seriously, being labeled as a bust by some.

The all-time vanity pick by the best GM who ever roamed the earth, Ron Hextall.

Shocking that he's still out of work, ain't it?

The Flyers as an organization seem to rarely miss in the 1st round..IF this ends up being a miss, at least its in a year where we had 2 picks and the other is looking on track to be a player

Freshman or not, a 1st round pick on a college team should be among the best 2 or 3 players on the team.

Hard transition from high school to college.

Mittelstadt struggled as well, though he didn’t deal with injuries.

Freshman or not, a 1st round pick on a college team should be among the best 2 or 3 players on the team.
And from the coach's early comments, he was one of the top forwards. Concussions hurt his development, as they do a lot of players (Patrick, Laughton etc). He was back up to speed at the WJC, looking very dynamic early, unfortunately got sick and couldn't play the last couple games (although he dressed, he didn't skate per the coach).

We have to have some patience with him, he needs to not only adapt to college but fill out a bit. We'll see how he does next year, he certainly has an element of dynamic speed and skill that makes him different. I can see him playing two more years at college, depending on what the Flyers need and how he develops, or if he blossoms next year, bring him out then.
