Series Talk: Round 1 - Battle of FLA Part 4 - Panthers Lead 2-0

Not optimistic really about this series. If we have any chance at winning, it needs to go at least 6 games.

Depth scoring needs to step up. Boqvist needs to pretend his brother is still on the team.
We all know when this team is locked in its very hard to beat. Theres some wildcards this time. Marchand, Jones, Shmidt. I plan to save the gloom until we are on the brink of elimination.

Compared to last year

Good
-Our top 9 is quite good if not better than last year with mackie and marchand in it
-Our defense can still be quite good fully healthy
-Bob
-4th line isnt just some energy line, has some good threat to it now
-Depth at forward is probably the deepest well ever have

Questions
-Unknown how the Jones and Schmidt do in the playoffs, Jones seems to be doin great overall but still has some costly brain derps a la weegar.
-Is Swaggy gonna be swaggy these playoffs?
-How are chucky and PEDblad gonna be after missing so much time?
-defensive depth is serviceable but one injury feels like it can derail us.
-Vanecek has been surprisingly better than i thought but id feel better with Knight or Stolarz back there if Bob were to go down.
-Is Lundell gonna step up these playoffs?

Bad
-2 games without Ekblad and chemistry is gonna be a bit off with the full lineup come playoffs
-No homefield advantage prob most of these playoffs, (didnt matter much till edmonton)
-Team definitely feels the extra games played this year and doesnt seem to have the same want as last year.
-Have to start against the Bolts who are the toughest draw out of the east and we arent exactly at full strength for a bit, goin at least 1-1 will be huge

Guessin lineup game 1 will be
Verhaeghe-Barkov-Reinhart
Samoskevich-Bennett-Tkachuk
Luostarinen-Lundell-Marchand
Greer-Sturm-Erod
Boqvist-Nosek-Gadjovich

Forsling-Jones
Mikkola-Kulikov
Schmidt-Megna/Ballinskis

Live look at Tkachuk's actual injury

I don’t doubt that we can beat anyone with a full lineup but I feel that the fatigue from b2b finals runs and 4 Nations will be our undoing. The positive though if we are out early is a well needed summer off to regroup for next year.

I prefer being on a roll going into the playoffs but this team needed the rest. IMHO, the organization did a good job staggering the scratches down the stretch.
We'll get a couple of extra days off regardless of who we play in round one. If we can advance in five games, we'll get some extra rest going into the second round. After that, the rest factor is less critical and the team's "chemistry" should have returned.

The extended fragmenting of this team since the break has been a handicap, but they hung together and stayed in the mix. With no additional injuries and a few fortuitous occurrences, there is a good chance we advance.

Again IMHO, ultimately Bob is key. If he's on his game, the team will rise to his level. Should be a fun ride.

New account. Who dis?

I think the Panthers will be ready for the Lightning come playoff time. They know if they stay away from the dumb penalties they should take the series. The Lightning powerplay is still deadly, even without Stamkos.

I’d be shocked if Tampa needs more than 5 games to win this series.

Everything everyone has said (the amount of hockey played, injuries, Ekblad suspension) is true but the roster is really good. Im not expecting a short series. Worst case they lose, finally rest, and come back like Tampa this year. But the roster is strong on paper.
Yup. Theres 2 good outcomes with one being painful as f*** lol. I’m not ready to give up the cup.

Tampa's scoring reminds me of us the year we won the President's. And, the stronger defensive team won, even though they had longer stretches (Covid shortened) the years prior. The boys risen to the competition all season even when they weren't looking great. A full squad, we'll see, but if we can get past these guys, think that gives the guys a boost going forward.

I don't make predictions, but I'm not counting us out.

It's the playoffs and any team can beat any other team.

I still have 100% confidence in this group.

We are the class of the conference.

I'll leave this here. I do hope this goes 7. It's good to build a rivalry that can maybe someday rival Leafs/Canadiens Devils/Rangers Flyers/Pens.

If you guys win keep the Cup in Florida please.
