Series Talk: Round 1 - Battle of FLA Part 4 - Panthers Lead 2-1

Tampa it is. Let's take the Governors Cup and shove it up their ass.
I expect physicality, forecheck but also a finesse on offense.
Bob needs to be elite 60% of the time.

My confidence in the defense isn't at same level as the Cup team but my confidence in the majority of the returning cast knowing the route to success and not panicking but having the assurance of knowing Maurice’s system(s) work.

I believe in the back to back happening.

take a look back at the end of feb to early march. remember when we gave up 1 goal over 4 games? guys started going down and the wheels fell off for a bit but i think that's what this group's fastball looks like when all or most of they guys are in. we've seen hints of that the past few games even with guys coming in and out of the lineup. i think it's possible this team ends up stronger defensively. i just hope we can get everyone on the same page quickly in round 1.

Hello from the dark side. Lol. We might as well call tomorrow nights game preseason even though I'm pumped in hoping the small chance we catch Toronto.

We've been building this thing (rivalry) since the mid 90s and now here we are, two of the best teams in the league. This needs to go to 7 and be as memorable and dramatic as possible.

My man said 7 games. No thanks

We’re the best that is true but you’re not even close to the second best in the league.

The part of your statement that is true, We didn't play well last year against you, it wasn't much of a series.

However, both our teams know how to win. Both have reached the top of the mountain. Some of the better teams this year can't say that right now.

It's not a rivalry without hatred so I welcome it! Let's go!

Reality is, I dont hate Tampa unless we are playing them. And no, I wont room for them, but they do look good and dangerous when humming. And I actually like Vasy way more than cry baby Shesterkin lmao.

You can't appreciate our Cup without being appreciative of they swept the f*** out of us. It's Tampa's fault we became a threat.

There are teams I hate way more than Tampa.

Teams like Vegas, the Rags, and all Canadian teams except maybe the Flames. I cannot stand the f***ing Carolina Hurricanes.

This is why we are due for a 7 game series. It's more fun that way.

Cats have played more hockey than any other NHL club in the last 2 years. If they want a shot at repeating, they need to dispatch the Bolts in short order. 5 max.

Duly noted. This was part of why I thought we were off last year because of 3 straight deep runs so I get what you're saying there.

And I don't mean against you guys in the playoffs but the whole season general starting game 1 last year

Yea. we cannot afford a long series right off the bat.

HOWEVER, I think the Ekblad situation changes that situation. If Florida wants to win this, we would need 6 or 7 unfortunately.

This rivalry has become a league wide interest. Two teams from the south killing each other. Who would’ve thought lol

This is what I'm saying. I mean sure it's fun to want sweeps against eachother. ButI hope we can someday be up there with the NY, Alberta, Ontario and Pennsylvania rivalries that have history in hatred (i mean that with love)

We have a long way to go. This is why a 7 game series would be cool. A kind of series we can talk about for years.

Well, until recently, it's been slightly lopsided - now's our chance to get you to start hating us as much as we hate you ;).

TBH, I just love the fact that a Florida team has been in the Finals for the last five years. This is a tradition that needs to continue so that we can keep driving the rest of the hockey world insane. I think we can both agree that Stanley belongs in the sunshine state - he's used to the weather now, it'll be cruel to send him up north...

Now piss off so we can talk shit about you and your yucky, dirty team with your horrific jerseys.

I agree. Also limping into the playoffs, it will probably take us a couple of games for our team to start clicking again - I wouldn't be surprised if we drop first two on the road, and then proceed to win the rest in 7.

I think that and nagging injuries probably argue against us going back to back - we were really lucky last year with injuries. TBH, I would be happy with the season if we manage to make it to the ECF and dispatch Tampa and Toronto on the way. Although guys - VERY happy to be proved wrong here...

Of note also, us going for our 3rd straight Cup Final trip is a lot, a lot different than when Tampa did it.

19-20 - Covid shortened, and playoffs didnt start till August. They got a layoff from March to August which is A LOT of rest (This is why the Lakers won that year too in my opinion, it didnt give the chance for Anthony Davis to get hurt lol)

20-21 - Bubble Season. 56 games plus the wonky division ensured DECREASED Travel. I dont think Tampa crossed over a time zone beyond 2 hours. If they did it was only for regular season.

21-22 - This was the only year they played a standard season (incidentally lost the Final).

Tampa played significantly less hockey than we did for their 3 straight appearances.

Our journey there this year would be of significantly higher difficulty.

WHICH IS WHY IT WOULD BE f***ING AMAZING IF WE DID DO IT!!!!!!!

[We probably won't]
