How good is Lindgren ? Is the gap between him and Thompson big ? Or the gap is about like Montembeault and Dobes ?
Put it this way: we almost missed the playoffs because Washington had their butts handed to them twice by the Columbus blue jackets because Thompson was out, and Lindgren couldn't get the job done, and they had to call up their minor league goalie, who also wasn't good.

Dobes is much much much closer to Montembeault than Lindgren is to Thompson.

The only x-factor is that Lindgren always seems to have something to prove against us as we gave up on him a few years back. He has actually had a decent career since we gave up on him, and played relatively well, until they got Thompson, and then Lindgren regressed a bit.

But, I think our chances are MUCH better with Lindgren in the net. If Lindgren was in the net for game 1 and 2, we are probably leading the series 3-0 or 2-1. Thompson is a good goalie, and thus, a big loss for the Caps.

Condotta for Kapanen? Guy is built for the playoffs.
Not a bad idea. His FO% is better than Kapanen, he is bigger, and he knows how to hit. Don't know who is better defensively, or offensively at the NHL level, but I could see Condotta being a consideration. Kapanen doesn't seem to have adjusted to the NHL game yet, and it must be hard to do it in the playoffs.

I guess the strongest argument going forward is that Kapanen is part of our longterm plans, and Condotta isn't. I imagine it is a subject of discussion, as is bringing up Florian Xhekaj.

So Lindgren is not a good goalie and not even a good D. Thanks.

In a earlier post in this thread it seems Monty is back on the ice today so I wonder what was the issue for him leaving last nights game. Leg cramps maybe?

LOL, friggen spellcheck (and my own laziness for not rereading). I wrote Dobes and for some reason it changed it to Dobson, although I can't remember ever writing that name since he was drafted. But, yeah, you are right, I bet Lindgren is a terrible D, especially since he is always in goalie gear lol

Wow, that's some weakass battle drill. He's not in for game 4 for sure.
Even if Protas is in, then they have to take out Leonard or Beauvillier, or someone else that has been playing well. So, although it would be an improvement, it isn't like the Caps will be taking out a non-contributor, so the impact is not as big (no pun intended).

Habs fans storming the Capitals

I was always sad that we moved on from Lars. It seemed that we were expecting a top-6 player from him since I think we got him for Halak, but he has been a really steady 3rd line centre for years, and he can score.

Epic interview! Emotions are high!
Halak never became a real starter, most fans just massively overrated what his trade value was. Eller was probably the Caps most consistent player in their cup win. Eller has easily had the better career.

They have both had good careers. Halak was every bit as valuable as Eller.
