Zuccarello headed to free agency on wednesday... pipe dream but would make so much sense as a short term acquisition. 2 year deal to end his career as a Ranger.

The funny thing is, he’d actually be a good fit on a line with Dorofeyev and Miller, which would allow us to keep together the 13-93-94 line that worked so well last year.

I don’t pine to bring players back pretty much ever, but that one could work. Although… it doesn’t make us any faster.

right? dorofeyev needs a pure playmaker. Zuccarello makes *anyone* he plays with more productive. Drury gets a win in bringing home a fan favorite. Zucc gets top 6 minutes and gets to play with two shoot-first forwards. If it doesn't work out Zucc rides off into the sunset and we're no worse for the wear

Even with his poor showing in the finals, I imagine that Drury will at least be putting a cal in to Rasmus Andersson's agent next week

I don’t see where Andersson fits without a trade of a RD. The rangers are either definitely moving Schneider or they know what his contract will look like because by all amounts I’ve seen there’s been no talks.

I'm all for this times a zillion. I was VERY VERY hard on him when he was here. That Norwegian poster who used to come here, I really pissed him off a couple of times.

However this is a very different time and situation, and he's not being asked to be the main guy. He's here to be an experienced piece, and also play PP2 with Perrault, Laba, and Cullye.

i'm still working the assumption Schneider goes.
I don't think Andersson ends up here, but i do think Drury will inquire

I love me some Zookie, but I don't think bringing in a guy his age to play good minutes makes sense. This is when Perrault and Cuylle should be getting PP time. I'd also love to see Greentree come in and send Raddysh packing.

Feels like Marchment is definitely going to be targeted in free agency

We really could use a high end 2nd pair Dman

Billy G is essentially the arrogant varsity football captain kid in the high school cafeteria who pointed at Drury, called him smelly and directed everyone else in the school to stay away from him and now all the other NHL sheep GM are actually following his lead. That's literally why Drury can't trade Vincent Trocheck right now. This is what our General Manager and franchise are.

Billy G let the world know what he values Trocheck at, made fun of Drury for disagreeing and now no one else wants to offer more than Billy G did for fear of getting made fun of at lunchtime.

Laf Zib Gabe
Kartye Miller Dorofeyev
Cuylle X Greentree?
Sykora Laba Chmelar
Rempe Raddysh

Gavrikov Fox
Smits X
Fortescue/Iorio/Robertson/Vaak Borgen

The scary thing is that, with a couple more shrewd moves and a bit of luck, I could see this team making the playoffs. If Smits plays right away, I want a steady veteran to be there to mentor him. That guy isn't on the team right now. If Smits is playing, I'd love for the team to go out and get a guy like John Carlson as his partner.

I think the Rangers need at least two solid, younger centers. One will likely come from next year's first round pick. The other? MacTavish was an ideal scenario, but I'm glad they didn't overpay. Maybe cycle back to Buffalo on Ryan McLeod?

If they can slot McLeod into the 3C spot and Carlson (or someone similar) into the 2RD spot, AND if Greentree and Smits can make the transition, then (other than Kartye being a bit weak on the 2nd line), this is a pretty solid lineup. That's a lot of IFs, to be sure, and there is practically no depth in the event of injury, but that lineup takes several steps in the right direction (assuming that Trocheck and Schneider will be moved for futures and possibly McLeod).

I don't see how you have Kartye ahead of Cuylle. Cuylle is not some slam dunk 2nd liner but Kartye is even less so.

Kartye is the place-holder. We need someone better there, and that would bump Kartye down to compete with Sykora and Chelar for the 4th line spots. Cuylle's a great 3rd liner. I just want as many players as possible slotted into their best roles.
