That is true, however the effusive praise of Schaefer suggests that while he may not be of the generational level of prospect, how far below is he? Potential perennial all star?
Pretty much the defensive version of Robertson. I mean this is Tavares and Hedman. Robertson is most certainly worth the one overall here. Generational talents are slated to go first several years before the draft and are talked about, like McKenna. That's the 1OA you don't trade for Robertson. Schaefer only elevated to number 1 after world juniors.

Of course they can. You just go into GM mode then scroll through the list of players you want and hit the “X” button…

Yes, but the addition of the NTC/NMC has made it very difficult to trade players.

I had to approach duclair 4 or 5 times to convince him to waive his so I could trade his ass.

Ah, the tough life of being an online GM. I don't get paid enough.

How I wish that in real life all teams could only have a maximum number of NTC/NMCs on their roster, same with contracts spanning more than 4 years. It would make for more trades, more excitement and more interest.

Wow. He was excellent for Dallas. He’s been around the block alot now. NJ FLA SJ DAL. Am I missing any?
The guy has lost in the conference finals 6 times, and lost the in the cup finals twice. And the one you'd say he really should have one for sure (with Vegas vs. Montreal), his team faced Carey Price's big encore while MA Fleury flopped.

Deboer has a short shelf life wherever he goes, and seems to dislike goaltenders.

Speaking of Dallas, with their cap being what it is, I’d certainly throw a 2.85mill offer sheet at Bourque and see what happens. Gladly pay the 2nd rounder compensation.

2. Pierre Engvall
Left Wing, New York Islanders
Age: 29

Contract: 5 years remaining, $3 million AAV

Buyout Structure: 10 years, cap hit $1m per season

Scoop: The Engvall contract, a seven-year head-scratcher from jump street, is a parting gift from the Lou Lamoriello Era on Long Island. Coach Patrick Roy blasted Engvall on multiple occasions for his lack of physicality and willingness to go to the net. He was placed on waivers twice. He was a healthy scratch for stretches, even though he showed some signs of life toward the end of the season. The only blessing on his long deal is that there is no signing bonus, so the buyout is relatively painless and the Islanders can also save $5 million in real cash over the remaining term.

Call me crazy but 1 million for 10 season doesn’t seem so bad if we can’t trade him.

Nicest guy in the world, but he cannot play hockey for this team.
