Roster/Rumors/Speculation/Trade Talk - 2024-25: Re-Tool, Re-Group, Re-Mix, Re-Build

Pretty much, in a nutshell.

You stand a higher chance of winning with guys like Tkachuk, Stone, etc.

You don’t win with the Johnny trademarks, Austin Mathew’s, Huberdeau’s of rhe hockey world. And yea, Barzal is in this category.
You do realize that team still had plenty of skill guys right? Barkov, Reinhart, Verhaege… There’s plenty of room on cup winning teams for high skilled players. Do you need grit and skill, for sure, but you win with skill. So, if you want to add a guy like a Tkachuk to Barzal, great - if you think the only option is to sub one for the other, you’re no further ahead.

You realize they also used 6 goalies too bc his performance wasn’t that great, including the $10M guy?

Ok, let’s change history, FL makes the same trade, but gets Johnny Trademarks, not Tkachuk. Do you really believe FL goes to back to back Cup finals and also wins a cup in that scenario?

I’m sure you put a Tkachuk on TOR and you end up with a different result.

The statement was about a specific player, not the rest of the organization.
I know but to say Tkachuk came in and changed everything is NOT true.

Maurice said in the postgame that he came into a system that was already moving ina direction of excellence.

Hockey is NOT basketball - championships do not need a player with an IT factor. It is the collective and the Leafs are a prime example - 3 of the core 4 guys have produced in the playoffs - almost a PPG for each of them.

When the team lacks depth, unity, culture, identity, belief, mental toughness, no Star power is going to help you.

This is not a sport where LeBron can carry a team to a championship.

You need skill, grit, and will.

But what annoys me is that even when it is about the Leafs - it is somehow a way for you to attack Barzal - shits been beat down

Just like the Leafs were on a path to stardom and parades and Cups…

FL saw changes needed to be made. I mean they won one playoff series in three years, that series they won as President’s trophy and scored a whopping 3 goals in a sweep by TB in the second round. That’s very Toronto-like.

Following the trade…the go to the finals, then back to the finals and win.

If you don’t like something, then don’t respond. Pretty simple. My comparison is that some teams stay with players or player composition that doesn’t work, other teams see it AND make the changes necessary and are rewarded for it. The Isles are 3 years into the former, they should move into the latter…quickly.

just wanna say, this is a pretty incredible mindset to have when going to a public message board to talk with like minded people lmaoo

no, actually we're here to discuss our opinions. if you want to put your thoughts into a vacuum feel free to purchase a journal - but if you're going to post them on a message board the point is for people to respond.

actually incredible line of thinking, explains a ton though

Not really, there’s just some people who fly off the handle on certain topics. That’s their thing I guess. Others can have discussions and do. It’s all on display.
