Yes, I can see that from the clips I've seen of him taking snipes from RW.Like the others I mentioned, he's a lefty shot.

Holmstrom's a lefty tooLike the others I mentioned, he's a lefty shot.
Be careful of building a team that’s all skill and speed that lacks players who are physical and go to the dirty areas. Players who will go for those lose pucks along the boards instead of shying away from it.The way to make this work and it will take a few leaps.
You move Mayfield to Nashville - they need RH D, and Trotz knows and likes Scotty.
My suggestion - McCarron for Mayfield
You do not qualify, Perunovich, and give George (.838) the 6th D man role. Boqvist (1m) and DeAngelo (1.5) resign. I think 1.25 is too small, so I bumped it up a bit - I had him at 2.5.
Resign Romanov (5.75) and Dobson (9) - I had Dobson at 8.5 and Romanov at 5.25. 6.5 for Romanov is too much for someone who produces so little offence.
Resign Holmstrom to the bridge deal (4m) and resign Tsyplakov (3m).
Win Shabanov - (.95m) and trade 2025 2nd for Lukas Reichel (1.2)
Trade JGP and take the assets and use them to jettison Duclair's full contract.
Ritchie starts with the big club and heads a kid line of Shabanov - Ritchie - Reichel, Cizikas - McCarron - Gatcomb, are you new 4th liners.
I don't love moving Pageau and giving Ritchie the keys. There is the option of possibly moving Cizikas, too. I would much rather move Duclair's full contract and Varlamov land on LTIR and certainly buyout ENgvall.
We're a long way from that.Be careful of building a team that’s all skill and speed that lacks players who are physical and go to the dirty areas. Players who will go for those lose pucks along the boards instead of shying away from it.
A lot of the organization's left hand shots have played on the right side.Hadn't realized this but LW looking pretty dire once Lee is gone (if hes gone after this year?), huh.
That doesn't mean they should trade a third pairing defenseman for a fringe 4th liner.FWIW, the dynasty teams had just a few guys you could say were "skill" players. Maybe Bossy, Kallur, Persson, Jonsson and McEwen (and Kallur was a very solid all-around forward and PKer, and Persson and Jonsson were both solid defenders). Pretty much everyone else on the roster was grit or skill/grit (which was the key - Trottier, B. Sutter, Tonelli, Potvin, Gillies were all great combos of skill and grit). And looking at a team like FLA, the formula for success is not much different today.

Norris is made of glass and Barzal has less than 60 days left of a 22 NTC (which Buffalo is most surely on).Buffalo fan here do the NYI have any interest in Norris and Byram for Barzal?
I was just addressing the general tenor of posts recently, not that specific discussion. I think it's a really bad idea to say "we need grit" and then overpay for a fringe player as if that' going to solve the problem. Winning teams have grit and skill combined at the top of their lineups. That doesn't mean they should trade a third pairing defenseman for a fringe 4th liner.
No offense to McCarron, but he has two seasons of more than 51 games in a season as a 30 year old. Even if you think Mayfield is a traffic pylon, he is worth more than McCarron everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
Mayfield at 3.5M per with a rising cap is completely fine for what he brings to a third pairing.
The problem is what Dobson and Pulock bring as 1RD and 2RD, not Mayfield.
There are certain "grit" guys I think are worth paying a premium for. Lawson Crouse being one of them.I was just addressing the general tenor of posts recently, not that specific discussion. I actually didn't mind that exchange, just because Nino is a dime a dozen guy but Clutterbuck was, what, the most prolific hitter in modern history? But generally I agree, I'm not into Nino for Clutterbuck + 2nd deals (even if Cal is salt of the Earth).
I think looking back at it 10+ years later it ended up being fair for NYI, but you can't tell me Snow extracted as much value as he should how out of a former 5th overall pick.I actually didn't mind that exchange, just because Nino is a dime a dozen guy but Clutterbuck was, what, the most prolific hitter in modern history?
I won't be defending Snow, don't worry about that!I think looking back at it 10+ years later it ended up being fair for NYI, but you can't tell me Snow extracted as much value as he should how out of a former 5th overall pick.
Especially considering what he was able to turn Reinhart into. It's a shame he didn't sell high on Dal Colle...
Not really. Makes us worse on offense and creates a potential glut at LD if Schaefer gets drafted.Buffalo fan here do the NYI have any interest in Norris and Byram for Barzal?
no one is taking Norris (aside from the Sabres)Buffalo fan here do the NYI have any interest in Norris and Byram for Barzal?
McCarron is exactly that - a big 4C - 6'6 235Be careful of building a team that’s all skill and speed that lacks players who are physical and go to the dirty areas. Players who will go for those lose pucks along the boards instead of shying away from it.
No Thanks.Buffalo fan here do the NYI have any interest in Norris and Byram for Barzal?

Value aside I’m in.He’s no longer just a fringe 4th liner.
Yes, he was Nashville’s 4th-line center—but he’s a beast: 6'6", 235 lbs, a key part of their top-5 penalty kill. He averaged over 13 minutes per game, took more than 900 faceoffs, and won 54% of them. He also registered 150 hits and played 70+ games in each of the last two seasons.
And he makes just $900K next year.
This move gives the team flexibility—Cizikas can shift to LW on the 3rd or 4th line or even slide up to 3C if Pageau is moved and Ritchie isn’t ready. Plus, it clears $3.5M in cap space.
I love Barzal but I would make that deal. Talk about quick retool.Leaf fans coming in peace.
I wanted to inquire on how highly Barzal and Horvat are valued by isles and if either would be on the market?
I had discussed with a few caps fans who said they would deal Dylan Strome + Ryan Leonard + 1st for Matthews.
Assuming the above happened in real life, would the Isles entertain a follow up deal of
Matt barzal for WSH 1st (let's say 2926 top 10 protected) + Ryan Leonard + Easton Cowan? Or the same deal less Cowan for Horvat?
Of course this is allowed fantasy talk and I'm no GM of a NHL club but just wanted to discuss if value wise that would be something that appeals to NYI? Didn't want to ask/create this on main boards since it seems way to far fetched and isn't really concerning other fans outside of NYI. Let me know thoughts
