Roster/Rumors/Speculation/Trade Talk - 2024-25: Re-Tool, Re-Group, Re-Mix, Re-Build

Those are called opinions.
And yet they’re stated as fact. Weird.

Could be a goose.
You make out like it's some big mystery. It's not. You know in the same way you know about any other person or entity; by what they do and don't do.

We need some new things to talk about around here; so ownership, fire Lou, or Lou, make some major changes.

It's funny how things have done a 180 when it comes to Lou. At times it was agonizing to post anything that shed a bad light on Lou. I guess a few mediocre seasons can do that.
If they haven't removed Lou by now, I can't see anything besides a health issue that would keep him from returning but like a few have mentioned, there is going to be a 4 to 6 player transition.
It might even be a blockbuster or 2 in the offseason
Lou Lamoriello gets praise for the small but correct things, but when you dont do ANYTHING for the past few seasons? You have done wrong.

There hasn't been anything new to talk about here in 3 seasons.
:deadhorse
I don't know. The firing and hiring of two coaches - because there is no way that there were or are any problems with the roster - has probably generated a minimum of 10,000 meaningless posts (mine included) over that period of time.

There's literally zero way Lou can turn this group into a contender this offseason (or maybe in multiple offseasons), but because he can't stop going all in, he's most likely going to push the future necessary pain even worse.
agreed. there is absolutely zero excuse not to completely clean house this offseason. this is the absolute best opportunity to make drastic changes. another very disappointing year. aging players regressing. ahl team historically embarrassing. only 3 truly exciting prospects. the moves the that the current president and gm and president have not worked and have been detrimental to the future. the coach has been flat out bad. a new group here would actually get the fan base optimistic even if it means a tough 25-26. the same old BS and the UBS will be empty and the team will still suck.

He hasn't gone 'all-in' since the Horvat trade, in early 2023.

If this is the end of Lou, he actually did alright by the franchise the last two years by trading Nelson for futures and not trading away draft picks for win-now moves.

Let's not let LDS get in the way of facts.

I'm not sure there is a basis to prove he is still going all in. He did not trade the first or those two second round picks last year. He sold Nelson at the deadline and kept our first. Even when Roy and Lambert made the playoffs if my memory serves correct he did not buy or give up major assets.

I still believe he made two major mistakes in back to back offseasons:

- signing Mayfield and Engvall to 7 year deals along with literally everyone else they just brought them all back. After a bad playoff exit and terribly blown leads. Lambert needed more and Lou did not give him anything.

- not trading Lee/Pageau/Nelson/Palmieri last offseason. They needed more cap space and to simply swap guys out to see if a different core of guys would help. They could have likely gotten more for Nelson if they would have just dealt him before the season started.

I question where the Lou is that came in and brought key locker room pieces that played pivotal roles in that first comeback season after Tavares left. He brought in Trotz, Filppula scored 17 goals, Komarov played a major role for bringing guys along and got 26 points, Lehner was a top goalie in the league, and Mitch Korn was brought in.

One of our HF Islanders posted a Hagens trade to us on the main board trade proposals ……Oh my .
He should have kept it here first before taking it out for a spin .lts not good
He does this every couple of months, drop in to make some insane proposal and then disappear. Wanted to dump Romanov earlier this season (“we have too many LD”) and would have been happy to get rid of Brock for two second rounders.

That's not for a ack of trying, though. And he said he didn't wanna trade Nelson, just that Brock forced his hand. As for the futures, he's now got an extra first burning a hole in his pocket. Should send a shiver down everyone's spine here.

A bad GM, who's done a fairly miserable job in his time here. Trotz fell in his lap, allowing an average roster to punch above its weight. A roster that needed high end additions that he just couldn't make. And then the Toews trade came and sealed their fate.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if Engvall is out we need to call someone up right?
I was thinking the same thing. Could be Maggio or Foudy or maybe Roy puts Boquist up front. TBH I haven't really been following the team closely lately and not sure if Boquist is healthy.

I’m not going to deal with hypotheticals, just the reality of what has actually transpired.
