Roster/Rumors/Speculation/Trade Talk - 2024-25: Re-Tool, Re-Group, Re-Mix, Re-Build

Roy’s comments the other day lead me to believe the injury is not as much a problem as many of us assume.

Interesting 2019 comment from Torts

I think there’s a long list of players who deserved this year this year to get ripped on but didn’t, yet. So in that part I feel for DuClair

But I’ve also since day 1 of contract been against this signing. Stupid term to give to a guy who although a fan favorite everywhere, CANNOT stick with 1 team. That is a red flag

More lunacy from Rosner. Sounds like Matt Martin (who can’t even get to 1,000 this year) is going in tomorrow vs the Wild

No need to see what a Jeffries could do for us I guess

Where have you been the last ten years? Mental health days ring a bell? Safe spaces ring a bell?
Yeah, that is the problem, everything nowadays is blamed on mental health. You even get a pass for committing crimes because of "mental health." But all that aside, and I have nothing against Duclair, as I said in a prior post I was surprised at how overboard Roy went in ripping him, but bad performance at your job does not warrant a mental health day as you called it.

Looked fine before the injury, but this one would be on Roy who actively recruited him. Hoping that the time off does him right and he can be a contributing player next season
The guy got reamed out by his coach Monday and needed a safe space instead of practicing today? Let’s just say I have my doubts about Lou and Roy’s judgement on this.

In 2019 everyone was probably blaming Tortorella for being too difficult to work with

I know you said you don't want to keep having the discussion, and that's fine. But I have to point out that the GM may not have been convinced they were an elite group. Maybe the real problem is that the GM doesn't think you need an elite group - that he still believes a tight-knit group of gritty, solid, defensively sound players that adhere to a system can overcome elite teams. And any chance of that happening went out the window as the league has moved to a more open, offensive style, and the GM failed to keep up with the times.
Elite can be interpreted in many ways, but is there really any doubt that he thought that as a group of players, collectively, they were elite in their own way? If you need any proof of that, you need look no further than the firing of Trotz. Lou was so arrogant and had so much belief in the "elite" group that HE had assembled (or kept from the previous administration, either way, his decision) that he felt that any professional coach with a modicum of experience could get them back to the CFs or further.

He's on his 9th team in 11 years. A little time off isn't going to change anything.

The measure of Lou's desperation this year is perfectly demonstrated by two acquisitions: Duclair and DeAngelo. Two guys he wouldn't have had on one of his teams in a million years if the ship weren't sinking.

Let's just call him what he is. Duclair is a complete p***y and so are Roy and Lou for even allowing that bullshit to take place.

I'm not ready to jump to this conclusion yet. I want to, but we still don't know if he learned that his Mom has terminal cancer and has 1 month to live or some crazy life shit like that.

I'm not expecting that kind of news to be released so if something like that is happening in his life to ruin his game to the point where he has to step away from a team that is floundering, I'm okay with it.

Not to be too callous, but his mom has terminal cancer or some other tragedy befalls him just about once a year? The track record is clear; a ton of talent but not particularly interested in adapting his game to the style that NHL coaches want to see played.
