Regarding Nelson, LeBrun says:
  • "No one is quite if if Nelson would be traded by Lou Lamoriello."
  • I don't think he signs an extension and is headed to July 1st
  • lots of teams would be interested in Nelson - Namely Dallas, Winnipeg, Minnesota, and the Leafs all wuold have a lot of interest in Nelson - If he becomes available.

Can someone tell me who RG is? Like Ricky Gervais start being stupid about hockey in a continuing bid to corner the being stupid market?

I have a difficult time believing that Nelson is going to take enough of a discount to make re-signing over 3 years & not dealing him worthwhile. The fact that he hasn't yet resigned indicates that that is likely how things are at the moment.

who's playing center for vancouver if they trade Petey for Dobber
There’s no chance they trade him. We’re looking at something like signed Boeser ++

I know one RHD has trade protection and another doesn't. I will go on record in favor of not trading Dobson. Can we leave Pulock and Nelson in Winnipeg for Perfetti, Barlow, ++?
This is the way to go imo. Doesn’t seem like Lou wants to deal the old guys though

I don't follow him super closely so I'll take your word, that one stuck out to me because it was so recent and it was posted on here as if something were happening.
he seems to always know the severity of injuries before the information is released. I don’t remember him having any of the defenseman that came over though.

He’s definitely got some sort of in, he’ll break stuff information a couple of days before the isles do… just not sure how deep it goes.

I'll add that VC has a couple of pretty high end prospects who are close to being NHL players: Lekkerimaki (RW) and Willander (RHD). Willander plays at BU, FWIW. So one of them plus a current player is an option.

Seems to be a hockey outlet in Quebec, which would somewhat align with IB’s post saying the Canadiens are in on him. The chief editor is followed by a few reputable hockey people, including Weekes, Byron Bader, and Nathan Murdock. He’s got 20k followers, not sure why the media page has so few.

Willander has Lou written all over him… although I’d rather have Lekkerimaki. I don’t see them dealing either of them unless there’s some sort of Gauthier situation with Willander.

I wouldn’t be against trading Dobson if the deal was perfect for us and brought in a high end forward, but I think it’s insanely risky to trade a 25 year RHD after one poor year when he has been a 50 point player in each of his last three seasons. People seem to forget that defensemen take a little longer to develop and they usually don’t come into their own until their later 20’s. Even Toews wasn’t a 50 point defensemen until he was traded by us at age 26. If we trade Dobson, we cannot afford to mess it up because there’s a very good chance he blossoms into a legit top pairing offensive defenseman.

The fancy stats say he already is one… so do the regular stats. The return should be gigantic.

Other team’s scouts aren’t watching every single islander game… I don’t think anyone understands the full Dobson experience besides us. If he gets dealt I’m expecting an absolute blockbuster

The three biggest trades involving densemen I can think of:

1. Sergachev for Moser, Geekie, a second
and a seventh… but he was coming off of that crazy injury

2. Seth Jones and a first (32nd) for Boqvist (lol) the 12th overall (Sillinger), a second, and next year’s first (Jiricek)

3. Erik Karlsson for a first, Josh Norris, and a bunch of guys.

Dobson trade is probably closest in value to the Seth Jones trade. It’ll be gigantic

Yes. There will be an 11 day freeze.

We should be hoping that the sights are higher than a guy like Boeser, who is a fine player, but isn't enough for what the team needs.
I don't put much stock in these internet rumors, but if the return for Dobson is Boeser, that's a terrible, terrible deal. If the deal is with Van, Petterson is the only player that makes sense, and if it's Montreal, it should be Caufield or someone of that caliber.
