Isles almost never win both games on the FL road trip. Since inception of the Florida teams, they’ve won both games only like 5 times. Ever. If you have time, look it up. Put some hard coin on Florida today.

what's the lineup look like tonight with potentially Barzal, Duclair and Mayfield out?

Lee - Horvat - Holmstrom
Tsyplakov - Nelson - Palmieri
Engvall - Pageau - Cizikas
Martin - Maclean - Gatcomb

Romanov - Deangelo
Pelech - Perunovich
Cholowski - Boqvist

Skarek

If they win this game on the second of a b2b we are truly cursed into perpetual mediocrity

Well, we could finally get that 9-1 game we've been wanting for so long.... :sarcasm:

FYI Barzal suffered a broken kneecap while with Seattle in juniors, the puck looked like it hit eerily close to that same spot last night.

I think we would have seen a callup (i.e. Foudy) by now, it's possible they claim Phil Di Giuseppe to keep Martin out of the lineup, but the odds of him making it to Fort Lauderdale in time are slim to none.

Islanders have miraculously become better after losing Pulock and Dobson. It feels weird to say, but the isles are gonna get a lot more comfortable with trading Dobson if he returns, and continues to be a terrible player with the puck. The idea of trading for a Pettersson or Keller shouldn't be too far fetched if the isles have the balls to do it.

What would the forward lineup look like if we had traded Nelson and Palms earlier?

When this team truly goes through stretches when they are the "Island of Misfit Toys" they are difficult to play against, have an identity, and truly play like it is them against the world. Whether it is injuries to significant players or UFA's leaving and feeling disrespected, this team can rise to the occasion.

It is difficult to sustain that as they do lack some top level talent. What is frustrating is when everyone is healthy and they go through some bumps in the road and the Long Island Country Club environment comes out.

I am enjoying the ride no doubt no matter what happens tonight.

LGI

7 game winning streak
PK getting it done
Injuries pile up but the team pulls through
Sorokin making Shesterkin his b***h

But the need to whine . . . Priceless

Stop playing games. You know this team isn't a Cup contender right? Right...?

Glad the Islanders are the hottest team in the NHL. In 2018-2019 the Buffalo Sabres (yes pretty much the worst NHL team over the past decade) won 10 games in a row...And then missed the playoffs.

This is actually happening at the worst possible time because it's going to further embolden Lou to double-down on this average/aging roster, and make it harder for Malkin to get rid of him.

This team needs notably more talent and youth...And that can be accelerated by trading Nelson/Palmeiri - Instead of double-down on a team getting nowhere near the finals.

Do you just want to win some regular season games and MAYBE make the playoffs...Or do you want to win a Cup?

Big picture here.

You took the bait good sir…. But I’m convinced we have a number of fans who aren’t that far off from Lou in age, and prefer the instant gratification wins over the time it might take to retool/rebuild/re-whatever

You know the line people like to use “This won’t age well”?

I’ll take the other side of that bet. Your post will age very well.

I continue to hope for well played games and solid contributions from what I see as the core players on this team. More than that, I think they need to lose games and teams like Ottawa and Columbus need to continue to win. If Lou were not the GM, I wouldn’t say that, but his lack of forward thinking has hurt this franchise over the last couple of years.

Glad someone else here isn't fooled and sees what I see.

While I don't think that was bait, regardless it's not time to joke.

The time between now and the March 7th trade deadline, and then between then and the draft (when Malkin needs to replace Lou), are the most crucial times thie franchise has seen in years. What Lou/Malkin do in the coming weeks/months will determine how soon we can get back to contention....Or honestly be in hockey Siberia for 5-10 years.
