The team’s own Hall of Fame. A former captain, all star, and worthy of the honor.
It’s not like we’re putting Rich Kromm in there.
Thats probably next

Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom has had some nice shifts and have been able to get the cycle going.Next season if everything progresses, George will slot in as the 3LD with Mayfield and they’ll go from there. I’m more curious to see what happens to the forwards:
27-14-44
7-29-21
10-??-??
53-32-??
Realistically based on this, you put Duclair and Barzal with Holstrom and go from there. That last spot becomes the mystery however. Between Engvall, Martin, Fasching and Walterson someone has to take control of the last spot.
Get Wahlstrom the heck off the roster if that’s the case. His lucky goal last night doesn’t make up for the fact he’s inept out there. I also can’t see Roy split up Cizikas and Maclean.Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom has had some nice shifts and have been able to get the cycle going.
They are not a typical "bruiser" fourth line, but I think you keep that line together until one o
Lee-Horvat-Pageau
Tysplakov-Nelson-Palmieri
Duclair-Barzal-Fasching/Wahlstrom or Duclair-MacLean-Barzal
Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom
They've already been split for at least the last two games.Get Wahlstrom the heck off the roster if that’s the case. His lucky goal last night doesn’t make up for the fact he’s inept out there. I also can’t see Roy split up Cizikas and Maclean.
That’s because of Pageau moving up due to the Barzal/Duclair injuries but once they come back he’ll most likely combine them again. They've already been split for at least the last two games.
Pageau has been working quite well with Horvat and Lee and a top line, why would Roy split that when he can combine Barzal and Duclair on a third scoring line behind the Horvat and Nelson lines? That’s because of Pageau moving up due to the Barzal/Duclair injuries but once they come back he’ll most likely combine them again.
Combine Barzal-Duclair-Holmstrom then Cizikas-Maclean-someone on the 4th. Roy split Cizikas and Maclean due to the injuries. Once they come back, I have a feeling they’ll be back together. The 4RW becomes the issue of mystery again.Pageau has been working quite well with Horvat and Lee and a top line, why would Roy split that when he can combine Barzal and Duclair on a third scoring line behind the Horvat and Nelson lines?
I was thinking something similar about separating Horvat and Barzal - a bit different than what you have here.Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom has had some nice shifts and have been able to get the cycle going.

I'm not sure I see any benefit in messing with what has been working thus far?I was thinking something similar about separating Horvat and Barzal - a bit different than what you have here.
Holmstrom - Nelson - Palmieri
Tsyplakov - Barzal - Duclair
Lee - Horvat - JGP
Cizikas - Maclean - Wahlstrom/Engvall
OR
Engvall - Nelson - Palmieri
Tsyplakov - Barzal - Holmstrom
Lee - Horvat - Duclair
Cizikas - JGP - Maclean/Wahlstrom
What I’m getting at is moving Barzal back to center and then recruiting Cizikas and Maclean. The last 2 wing spots would ideally be Holmstrom and someone else.I'm not sure I see any benefit in messing with what has been working thus far?
I just can't see Roy splitting Tsyplakov-Nelson-Palmieri until he has a gun to his throat. That has been the second line all season and has be all accounts by a legitimate second line. Tsyplakov needs to cut down on the unnecessary penalties, but skill-wise he is the right fit there.
Lee-Horvat-Pageau is a not sexy, but has been able to be their top line in the absence of Barzal. They play the right way and have been producing.
That means Barzal and Duclair are the core of their third scoring line, which on any given night can be the 'top' line, it's just going to come down to who is the third wheel and how well they fit.
Ugh. Can Brad Lauer be far behind?Thats probably next
Recruiting as in seeing if there's a taker for one of them, preferably Cizikas? It would be a better use of the roster. What I’m getting at is moving Barzal back to center and then recruiting Cizikas and Maclean. The last 2 wing spots would ideally be Holmstrom and someone else.
Rather keep the centers and move out Wahlstrom to Siberia or Bulgaria.Ugh. Can Brad Lauer be far behind?

Maclean makes too much sense to me. Fast, left handed, takes draws, plays defense and gets the puck for the other two. Let Barzal play center but Maclean take the draws.I'm not sure I see any benefit in messing with what has been working thus far?

So it’s Reilly who is going to Robidas IslandMaclean makes too much sense to me. Fast, left handed, takes draws, plays defense and gets the puck for the other two. Let Barzal play center but Maclean take the draws.
Lou must REALLY like George
I’d like to launch Wahlstrom into the sun and get rid of Cizikas’ contract.Rather keep the centers and move out Wahlstrom to Siberia or Bulgaria.
Unfortunate for Reilly. Thought he was excellent for the isles last year. Sounds like a lingering concussion to me. Never good.Maclean makes too much sense to me. Fast, left handed, takes draws, plays defense and gets the puck for the other two. Let Barzal play center but Maclean take the draws.

Cizikas atleast puts effort in and you know he can be shifted back if necessary. Engvall, Wahlstrom, Martin, Fasching & Gauthier all need to be gone this summer/not resigned. See what this team has in the guys like Maggio and Jeffries then go from there. One of Reilly or Cholowski can go as well if George keeps progressing the way he is. Kid is going to be a stud down the line.I’d like to launch Wahlstrom into the sun and get rid of Cizikas’ contract.
This team has enough useless players. Fabbro will be another to eat up cap space. However, can we trade Engvall and pick up Fabbro in return?
Would rather have a left shot D plus Fabbro sucks
Unfortunate for Reilly. Thought he was excellent for the isles last year. Sounds like a lingering concussion to me. Never good.
Concussions are no laughing matter. Our team is very very very difficult to watch .Combine this with Butch Goring on the broadcast and the entire Islanders season feels like a lingering concussion … LGI
I’m all for the youth getting a shot but it’s up to them to beat the vets out at training camp. Not sure Maggio and Jeffries are projected to be fourth liners so their competition isn’t the Martin, Whalstom group.Cizikas atleast puts effort in and you know he can be shifted back if necessary. Yea, but not for us.For me I’d be more inclined to keep Dobson, he’s younger and has proven he can generate offense, yes he’s going through a rough patch now but I believe his upside is greater whereas Barzal’s seems to have plateaued. Forgot this Dobson is a RD.
Nino had a serviceable NHL career.
Just more so to see what they have in these players. Ideally both would be middle 6 guys leaning towards 2nd line wingers.I’m all for the youth getting a shot but it’s up to them to beat the vets out at training camp.
