I will say that getting rid of MIKKO C^nt-ain’t-Him has a potential to be a decent salvage trade.I know some people are angry about the Necas/Rantanen saga, but if you have guys who don't want to play in Carolina for whatever reason, getting Stankoven/Hall/2 1sts/2 3rds is a massive haul from a raw asset perspective. I think this situation could age very well long-term. I know the fossil jokes get thrown around about Staal and especially Burns, but they are veteran leaders who are auxiliary pieces from an asset management perspective. For a contender, our core group is remarkably young. The only core pieces on our team who are truly prime-age are Aho and Slavin; every other core guy is 25 and under and have yet to hit their prime (or, in Nikishin's case, hasn't stepped foot in the NHL yet). In a sense, the Canes are the Rays or the OKC of the NHL., except that unlike these two, the Canes spend like a large-market team.
Are the canes really in a worse spot than they were before?
Blake Aho Jarvis
Hall Kotkaniemi Stankoven
Martinook staal svechnikov
Robinson jankowski roslovic
Lots of mixing and matching you can do with these forwards as matchups and hot streaks dictate
No honestly this team as assembled should win a round. They’ll be favourites against either jersey Columbus or the rangers and will have home ice. They might be the only team in history to trade a top 10 player in the league and still win in the first round lolAre the canes really in a worse spot than they were before?

Might be one of the only teams to improve in that situation since Mr. Top 10 had the same number of points as guys like Ghost and Blake since he was acquired. No honestly this team as assembled should win a round. And adding a really motivated Stankoven might actually help this team moreMight be one of the only teams to improve in that situation since Mr. Top 10 had the same number of points as guys like Ghost and Blake since he was acquired.
Listless is a good way to describe what we were seeing. The Svechnikov-Aho-Blake line seemed to be developing nice chemistry right before the Rantanen trade, but now Blake and Hall seemed to have gelled so hard to break that up:
Svechnikov-Aho-Stankoven
Hall- Kotkaniemi-Blake
Martnook-Staal-Jarvis
Robinson-Jankowski-Roslovic
Those lines would be my best guess of how the next 20 games go. Regardless, that team should be a lot more entertaining to watch than the one with a listless Rantanen
Poor Jarvis can't even get into the top 6 after we trade Rantanen? Dude is cursed. Honestly I think we'll ease Stankoven in with 4th line duties for at least a little while. The Svechnikov-Aho-Blake line seemed to be developing nice chemistry right before the Rantanen trade, but now Blake and Hall seemed to have gelled so hard to break that up:

I think Stank will get the Jarvis treatment now and play with Staal and Martinook but otherwise that's how I see the lines as wellThe Svechnikov-Aho-Blake line seemed to be developing nice chemistry right before the Rantanen trade, but now Blake and Hall seemed to have gelled so hard to break that up:

agree with this. even svech got eased in with staal, it is almost a right of passage at this point.I think Stank will get the Jarvis treatment now and play with Staal and Martinook but otherwise that's how I see the lines as well
Jarvis currently realizing that Rod doesn’t like him either.
Rantanen talking to Jarvis.Jarvis currently realizing that Rod doesn’t like him either.
My initial thoughts is just push Morrow in, I think he would be fine and his mistakes won't be hard to coverMost of that looks good.
But Ekblad isn’t the answer as a Slavin partner anymore. Rather have Karlsson.
