You know what my take is...I would. Especially because he's a center. Challenging the conventional thought on size in order to get a 2C for way less than they typically go for? That's the Tulsky era personified.

It also wasn't exactly out of the norm for what their other goalies

Max Legace had 36 GP for 2.31 GAA and a .910 Sv%
Miftakhov had 22 GO for 3.03 GAA and a .891 Sv%
Hugo Alnefelt had 23 GP for 3.14 GAA and a .882 Sv%
Corbin Kaczperski had 4 GP for 3.55 GAA and a .870 Sv%

Looks to me like their defense was trash that year

Goalies are voodoo. Acquire as much upside as you can fit in the system, as cheaply as possible.

Even if he's not a great developmental project, they need goalies in the system.

Martin and Tokarski are UFA and Perets is RFA. Combine with UFA Andersen and there are only 2 goalies signed for 25-26 in the system right now.

Biggest problem has been the whiffs on Quapp, Hamrla, Vondras and so on. Like Hank said, goalies are voodoo but I bet none of the guys in our system now even get an ELC. One would hope at least one guy would show some developmental chops but noone is. Still think we should dangle someone and try to get Cossa or Augustine out of Detroit.

I do think Khazheyev eventually makes it up to the NHL and challenges for our starter. He's got so much raw skill, and the size to be a good NHL goalie, and his European numbers were really good. I just think he needs a year or 2 in the AHL to get accustomed to our game and he'll be good.
