I guess it depends on what they think about Brandt Clarke ++ from LA.
Or if Friedman was not just speculating about Anaheim interest, would they be interested in Zegras + Gibson +? Would Rantanen give the Ducks positive vibes about extending? Also, whole lotta cap coming back and not much going out
So many variables. I don’t see them trading him to an Eastern team, but nothing is likely off the table if they like a package.
My guess(es) would be that Anaheim is out, as I don’t see Rantanen extending there and RBA could have issues with Zegras. Clarke being held out and noise today that he’s “out there” seems easy enough to piece together. I don’t see the Kings giving up Byfield, so figuring out what their additions would be to Clarke is tough. Vegas doesn’t really have anything to trade. New Jersey has some attractive assets but don’t see that happening either,.

La has the pieces and seems to be the best fit to give us guys back to help now. Dallas has some of that and Toronto unless it’s Knies plus I don’t see it. My guess LA may offer something like this 2 options. I don’t see Byfield and Clarke coming back together.

I don’t recall where I saw it, but Mike Futa was saying the other day that he heard Rantanen would consider signing with a team on the west coast. He was the one suggesting Zegras + Gibson, and seems like Andy Strickland hinted at those 2 a few days ago.
Most of the insidurz seem to link him with LA.
I forgot about Dallas. I bet they’d try to trade Marchment ++ for Rantanen. Maybe Bourque or Stankoven too?
I don’t see what TOR has to offer that would beat out the western teams if it came down to it.
If they offer Kempe and Clarke you take it all day.

And Roslovic. Canes can retain on all 3 make then even cheaper. Nobody will miss Burns or Orlov.
Guessing Nash moved him in the deal because they are at the max 3 retain spots so now Pitt can retain and send him somewhere

Meh don’t see the big interest in Marchment he’s hit 20 goals once in his career. Stankoven and Bourque aren’t that intriguing to me either both small

It’ll be good to not have this hanging over the team. It’s not like his play has been anywhere close to what it was advertised to be. Some of their willingness to now deal him could be reluctance to give him $100M. He may very well turn it around here, but that’s not a bet I’d be willing to make at this point , especially given how non-committal he’s been.
He doesn’t owe the Canes anything and vice versa
