Hi guys, Habs fan coming in peace. I was wondering whether Legault would be available for trade and what would be the prize. With Chatfield and Walker signed and a solid RHD prospect pool- Morrow, Nystrom and Badinka, does he have a chance to make NHL team?

Legault as a RD is one of the Canes under the radar guys that has improved greatly since College, is playing well in the AHL, can skate well and has size as a weapon. He is my favorite young Dman in the system after Nikishin & Morrow.

Yes, Canes have two NHL RD's in Chatfield and Walker signed for longer terms & bunch of prospects that could make the NHL beside Legault so it's quite possible he could be available. I'd note that Chatfield and Walker are not big & have superb speed but if the Canes could replace one of them with a bigger player with speed I'd trade one of them.

I'd add, Brind'Amour saw him play a lot at Quinnipac, watches all of Chicago's AHL games on tape and I'm sure is getting feedback from his son on the Wolves too so......if he thinks Legault will be a valuable NHLer then I doubt they will let him go.

I haven’t watched but one Wolves game, so my analysis doesn’t mean shit. But Legault gives me Brett Pesce vibes. Same build type. Plays a quiet game, but just shuts things down.

I do wonder if he’ll ever get a chance to crack the roster.

That's the one thing that I wonder about that makes me a little less hesitant to move him than I normally would be with someone on his kind of trajectory. Outside of Burns the next opening on that side is in another 3 seasons (Chat's deal expires after 26-27). Of course, if he's good enough moving Chat isn't an impossibility either.

Legault is a slow burn. If we keep him he’ll be the veteran AHL guy that Rod starts trusting as a call up third pair guy. I’m sure we’d use him for a trade but I think he’d get injury chances that could lead to a full time gig.
