I am an idiot. thank you, sir.Miller is a left shot.

I mean, this is kind of the method, right? I doubt it's a bluff -- more like a semi bluff. Be in on a lot of players (play a lot of hands). Be firm on value, but force prices up so that it hurts for other teams. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Fold when your suited connectors don't catch a flop.I'll laugh if we feigned interest just to get the Rags to cave, then swung a less-expensive trade for a more palatable vet 2C contract like ROR.
I bet the Rangers heard Carolina was getting Miller and caved on their unprotected first
I'll never forgive myself for the blunder. I still think JT would be good for the Canes. LOL.If he wanted to play for Brind’Amour bad enough he’d switch handedness
We said the same thing after last season, and then the Rangers got out of Goodrow and Trouba's contracts without having to give up a single future piece. Should they get Miller, they'll find a way out of any future potential cap crunch as well. The thing that I keep thinking about the Miller sweepstakes is that if New York does complete the trade, it would give them a nice short-term upgrade at center but would also give them more future cap issues and potential roster decline down the road with all of those 30+ contracts, especially if Carolina successfully ups the price enough to force the Rangers to trade Chytil. KK's contract and play is iffy at the moment, but he is also a 25 and under guy. The Canes are still pretty well set up in terms of their future roster. Maybe the smart move is to mortgage some of that for the right-now upgrade with Miller, but IMO the typical Canes move would be to use cap space in UFA for short-term top-6 upgrades. We will see, however, and I won't complain either way.
Sure but there is nice spending on the roster and spending to a top end cap. In any event, it’s Friedman’s feedback through interaction with his contacts that suggest a bunch of teams will not spend to a very high cap (and that I agree with). If he’s not spending on the roster and the canes aren’t any good he’s taking a bigger loss when people stop showing up

Also, if they get Miller by only moving Chytil and Lindgren, that's bad news for us and the division. Chytil is more or less a walking health hazard and Lindgren is addition by subtraction.
Great point. If he's gonna control where he goes, you'd have to think Carolina is at the top of his list, or at least close to it.In a vacuum I'd think if there's ever a place for a guy who has a reputation for being an asshole because he gets mad at the rest of the team for not caring as much or working as hard as he does, this is the place where that'd be appropriately channeled.
I agree. I really don't want us to trade Morrow because of our upcoming big need for a good RHD, and our lack of in house options. If Morrow is traded, people can debate that, and assuming the rest of the trade package isn't bad, there's an argument to be made that it will be worth it. However, I'm of the opinion they can have any of our prospects not named Nikishin or Morrow. If it were EP or a similar tier forward that's still young? Yeah, I'd be okay with trading Morrow even though it'd still kind of hurt.I don't love JT having 5 more years after this but the cap hit isn't horrible and I think our locker room make up would be good for JT. He's a 100 point player and we could absolutely use one of those. I'm all for going for him at the right cost. Really would prefer to not give up Morrow, largely because RHD will become a big need soon and he's got some serious potential and is really our only young guy at that position that I think is any good. But if that's what it takes I won't complain.
Not sure the Canucks want 2 centers in return but I'd go Koko, Drury + pick(s)/prospect(s) combo. (no Morrow, Artamonov, Nadeau). No issues throwing Roslovic in there but I'm not really sure why that would move the needle much at all for the Canucks. They aren't contending this year and he's a UFA. If he is included in the trade it'd be hilarious if we just signed him right back in July
Nikishin is obviously off limits and not even worth mentioning in these discussions. But I view Nadeau and Artamonov in a similar vein as Morrow and would not move either of them. Anyone else pretty much, sure.Great point. If he's gonna control where he goes, you'd have to think Carolina is at the top of his list, or at least close to it.

I also agree with whoever said that Miller can be our long term solution for a good 3C once Staal retires, and when Miller is towards the end of his contract with us. That alone makes me feel better about his age and his long contract.
I’d be ecstatic with Pettersson, but that ain’t happening. I’d be OK with Miller, depending on what they gave up. I don’t want to see Morrow go the other way but don’t really see how a trade happens without him attached along with Kotkaniemi and potentially Roslovic.I'd still rather EP than Miller due to age and ceiling but I'd be ecstatic with either one.
EP a bit more risky in the short term but way more long term potential. But I agree I'd rather take the chance on EP. I think Vancouver (rightly) has no interest in moving him rather than JT.I'd still rather EP than Miller due to age and ceiling but I'd be ecstatic with either one.
I wonder if the Nuckles just trade whoever they like the package for most.I’d be ecstatic with Pettersson, but that ain’t happening. I’d be OK with Miller, depending on what they gave up. I don’t see how they keep Miller around after all the recent trade noise, but stranger things have happened.I wonder if the Nuckles just trade whoever they like the package for most.
I'd still do KK + Necas for EP.
Big if true (it is)
