Why on Earth would a rebuilding team pay picks to move a contract out? That is the exact opposite of what they should be doing until they are competitive.

I agree.

If there's a trade available that the front office would like to make, the sooner the better so the new player(s) can adjust to the team and be better prepared for the playoffs. Having said that, I'm not sure if we will make a trade before the 4 Nations Break though. I'm a little skeptical at this point until we hear more about Carolina in trade talks.

If it is a mandated break I don’t know how much help the time would be.

My understanding is that teams will not officially practice during much of this break. Players will need to skate on their own.

There was talk that Laf was the Vancouver ask for Miller. That to me is equal to Vancouver asking for Jarvis. No thanks. I don't see Canes looking to take on his contract, I would like it though. Miller is a player we've been looking for. Solid top 2C. Good on faceoffs. Angry. Rugged. etc. Ship out KK ++. We know KK has been linked to Van previously. What's fair to give up? Speculation has Jersey likely giving up top 3 pick Nemec. Can the Canes offer something comparable?

Friedman also said he didn’t think it was Laf and he said the devils would have to do some surgery to move around contracts since they don’t have the cap space.

If that's the price, we should be emphatically out. I think we might have been in on EP...but if we're in on Miller, Vancouver is getting pennies. I don't see us paying anything close to Nemec, let alone Nemec+.

It would be more obviously but they want him gone quick he wasn’t even present at a team event last night people were asking the players and they said he’s got food poisoning lol. Someone also asked Rutherford and he said a trade is imminent they won’t drag this out long

Miller is a massive upgrade over KK. I know people are worried about his contract but it’s only 7 million and with the cap going up I think it wouldn’t be that bad. Miller is a difference maker and maybe a spark this team needs going into the playoffs he’s a guy I want on my team

All depends on true cost, but "IF" KK is part of any trade for Miller, I personally think it may be worth the cost of acquisition + contract.

- We know what KK is at this point, and it's nothing consistent. Whether that's the inconsistent linemates, or another reason. We know that he's not 2C on this team.


-Both of their contracts end the same time (2029-30) and the difference of $$ between is $3.19mil per year. Without me comparing each players exact stats, First glance is Miller is better than KK now and whatever KK may or may not become.

The main thing that looms large is age. Miller is 7 years older than KK.

Cap will continue to go up each year, I would not be mad if the Canes took a chance on Miller if it cost KK + (Not including Nikishin, Nadeau, FUS)

Just one Caniac's opinion that wants to see a true top 2C on this team.

So KK a first and a dman. Idk if the canes would move Walker and bring morrow up or move morrow but one of those 2 probably gets it done my guess is they wouldn’t move either

Moving Chytll is a smart move even though when on the ice he is a difference maker....the worry is always that the next hit takes him out permanently.

Honestly Chytil & Lindgren can't have that much value around the league...Chytil is made of glass like Freddie, and Lindgren is a shell of his former self and is a UFA at the end of the season. I think KK alone could basically be that value.

Listened to Friedman's thoughts this morning. He mentioned that that even though the cap could grow significantly in the next few years (ie perhaps to $110M), he has received feedback that several Canadian and other smaller market teams are concerned and probably not spend to that amount.

Which naturally leads to the premise that in the future, the bigger market teams could dominate due to their ability to spend higher (ie Rangers, Toronto, etc. not as bad as baseball but.....).

I suggest that the Canes would not be a full cap spending team; not because Dundon is "cheap" but rather the financial realities of lower pricing power (I realize that pricing has gone up but it is still well below other franchises) and being a franchise in a smaller market.

Believe that as you may but it’s a lot easier to spend to $80m versus $110m and beyond.

Revenues won’t expand for dundon that much to justify taking a big financial loss every year at the much higher cap (I know it’s easier for fans/people spend someone else’s money….)
