Add to it that Nikishin comes in cheap. Everything can only flow after you have signed a goalie (which probably won't be as cheap as Freddie).

Playing GM:. Which free agent are you signing and for how much?:

There are a few really good or at least intriguing options on that list. Logan Thompson, Vejmelka, Lankinen, and Lindgren. I think it's a successful goalie offseason if we get one of those 4 guys. Of course the problem is that there are more than 4 teams looking for a goalie. I could see us ending up rolling the dice on trading a guy, like John Gibson at 50%.

What about the Finn behind Ullmark in OTT? He’s getting some attention. (I admittedly don’t follow contracts/money/term) so not sure where he lands as a trade option.

Given competition for the scarce quality goaltender market and Canes preference for money-picking the position, I wonder if Canes would be moving forward with any of those four cited....going to be an interesting off-season.

I don't think Thompson gets to market, so looking Vejmelka, Lankinen, and Lindgren for non-Freddy options.

Just as big a priority is going to be getting a dman to play opposite Slavin though, it can't be Burns anymore.

This place is going to be feisty when we extend Freddy at $3M for two more years this July.
will it be more or less feisty if, at the draft, rumors float that the vehicles (car and van) are making a trade and after a longer than necessary period we finally get the big announcement: Demko with retention for a low pick and meh prospect.

honestly, demko was second in the vezina voting last year, yet he is a 'distressed' asset with injury history. picking him up for next year would be very, very canesy.

I said I thought as much in the Demko trade thread.

I could easily see it happening.

honestly I won't be bothered as long as we bring in a quality #3 instead of the two options we currently have for it.
Yeah, just remember that the $3m AAV on Freddie is actually $4.5m because of the need for a reliable third option. Which makes you think maybe you should just spend $5m for your 1A, if he's out there.

the only one of those that's, maybe, available this offseason is Veg. Otherwise bringing it back with Freddy again and upgrading the #3 to say Reimer makes more sense.

I believe Demko has a brittle back/knee/hip which appears to be some type of chronic injury (I saw some posts that’s suggested he will just have to live with the situation going forward). After Freddie experience, I would think the Canes would pass on that type of player.
