That's a testament to how far Cody Glass' value has fallen. He's the same player he was two years ago, which for a 22 year old isn't good news. Trading him for a reclamation project sounds just about right.

That just about takes Philly out of the Seth Jones running. Bet he ends up in Chicago with his brother. Philly gets another skilled, but undersized defenseman.

The Flyers wanted to sign Jones. They weren't interested in a rental. Jones didn't want to sign there.

I think Larkin is/will be better at his position over the course of his career than Nils will be at his position over the course of his.

Thats why, to me, this deal doesn't hurt.

Sting? A bit, but with the depth we have on D, this would be an absolute no hesitation move

To me it's about less than that, even. I look at the right side of that defense. Even assuming that EVERYTHING goes right with Lundkvist's development...how likely is it that he supplants Fox? Do we really want two small-ish offensive d-men in our top two pairs? I just think that Lundkvist will, sooner rather than later, play himself into a bigger role than 3rd pair D, and we don't really have a spot bigger than that to give him (and won't have one for several years at best). We also have depth behind him with Schneider, Skinner, and a couple of others that I'm forgetting, most of whom offer a different kind of skill set that we currently don't have or don't have much of in the current group. Nils is going to be a great player, but moving him might be the best way to give him that opportunity AND bring in a player that fills a gap elsewhere (like Larkin).

All this talk about acquiring Larkin, what about keeping Larkin? He hits UFA in two years. How much is he going to cost? How willing will he be to stay here?

This right here is my worry. He's a Detroit boy through and through. Born with a stick in his hand and an octopus on his head according to Red Wings fans. If management views him even close to the same way that the fans do, then I'm a bit suspicious about why he's suddenly available. I could see Yzerman telling him that they will ship him out for a couple of years, get some good pieces, and then bring him home. It's not all that different from when Arizona traded Vermette to Chicago. Everyone knew he was signing right back with Arizona a few months later. I'd want assurances or possibly even an extension before giving up Nils in such a deal.

Glass is our Lias Andersson

This was posted earlier today before the trade. The Vegas beat writers proposed trading Glass to Seattle for McCann on the assumption Seattle would have taken McCann and traded him to Vegas. Both players were traded today.

It’s clear that Cody Glass has fallen out of favor for the Golden Knights and now is probably the last time they have to get decent value out of him before sending him back to the AHL for another season. The expansion team would love to add a former #6 overall pick and will be willing to part ways with newly acquired forward Jared McCann. McCann has had success in Pittsburgh as a winger but has played enough center in his career to be an option for the Golden Knights. Plus, he’s a power play weapon having scored seven PP goals last season in just 43 games. As the Golden Knights look to revamp their power play, he’ll be a key piece.

Can't really see Seattle taking Hajek anyway.

We're just gonna have to, like, not play him. That's a thing.

Where is the AGM that Drury must sign? Why hasn’t he/she been hired yet?

Obviously what we had in our front office wasn’t sufficient today. Why aren’t the reporters questioning Drury about the lack of effort to bring in quality management personnel? They are tripping over each other trying to lick up Dave Quinn and tell everyone how he must get a new job. Ok. That Vince guy is the biggest clown I’ve ever seen cover the Rangers.

Drury isn’t competent enough to do everything by himself. Like nobody have a one man Front Office. Why on earth do we have a front office consisting of practically ONE person during the eventful summer of 2021? Maybe it warrants a question from a reporter at least? Why haven’t Drury hired someone to assist him?

Unacceptable incompetence is one thing, but in Rangerland unacceptable incompetence isn’t even noticed, by anyone. 2 months and 12 days since Gorton and JD was fired. After which several front office personnel has been let go. Nobody signed. Two coaches, but nobody to directly assist Drury.

Unacceptable.

Nolan Patrick is one decent hit away from never playing again so clearly Vegas isn’t as high on Glass as people think
That's really not true. Patrick had a migrane problem, not concussions. And the Vegas GM (Kelly McCrimmon) was his GM in junior. They know what they are doing.

Can't predict what will happen but Glass has been a colossal disappointment. Both guys needed a change of scenery.

Trading for his brother certainly gives Chicago a leg up in signing him long term. He wasn't going to sign in Edmonton lol

The Ellis trade was an amazing deal for the Flyers

And I like neither Nolan nor Glass, but I'd take the risk on Nolan Patrick so good for Vegas as well.
