Vegas is in cap hell, idc if they want to trade karlsson. We will take both of them lol

Right, so their need to keep bargain players who produce like Stephenson & Roy is even more imperative. So unless we offer them 2 1sts & a prospect on a current ELC like Nils for Stephenson, which we wouldn't, there isn't a deal to be made.

And even if Karlsson might be the defacto choice to get shipped out, he wouldn't be available til the summer.

There's no better way to have a bad 3rd and 4th line than by thinking quality offensive players are redundant because you have other good offensive players. I guess Florida has been doing things wrong with Reinhart on the third line, Joe Thornton on the 4th line, and Patric Horqnvist on the 4th line.

Has there ever been a big trade deadline addition that has actually worked out? Isn't it mostly teams with a set core adding key role players and depth that tend to win cups? I might be missing something obvious, but I can't think of anything.

Given how many big moves are made by contenders and how few of them that actually wins, it does seem like it brings down the odds of winning?

Of course plenty of X factors and not scientific. But I at least feel comfortable stating that you can’t forget how long it takes for a player to get used to his new team after a deal is made. It’s risky and not a given that it will pay off.

Are there any reports of Seattle considering moving him? I haven't seen them if there are

Even if there were reports, these Insiders don't know shit. They're all making stuff up for clicks.

I'd have to imagine anyone on Seattle would be available for a price, however. Although Francis seems out to lunch on player values considering the awful team he built, so he'd probably ask for the moon in return for Gourde if he wants a 1st for Giordano.

I think I’ve seen a report or two on how ‘everyone is available in Seattle, if the price is right’. Given the market lately, I got to assume that he would be really really expensive.

If we can get Gourde, with some retention, we go from being a 2 line team to a team with 3 great lines. That is huge. That makes us real contender in my book, for the coming 3 years. We also get a chance to really develop both Laf and Kakko well, because our 3rd goes from being a dump n chase line to a line that legitimately can play against anyone. I think Gourde is a perfect fit for Kakko. Goodrow-Gourde-Kakko, perfect.

If Gourde can be had with some retention, I wouldn’t stop short at much to get it done. I would consider a larger number of assets like our 1st, Chytil, Nils, Kravy, Robertsson and co.

If, and it's a big "IF", Kakko comes back and plays to form then I really don't think the Rangers should do all that much unless a good opportunity is there to get a young asset that will be with the organization for years.

And, FWIW, I haven't liked Hunt much this year at all so it pains me to say that he's been pretty decent the last two weeks in his new role. He's more positively noticeable. I think Vatrano is a good add as well.

I'd look for Drury to do a cheap upgrade at D (again, I don't love Nemeth either, but he's been better since dealing with whatever his issues were earlier this year) or a young-ish good prospect at forward for one of our good D prospects not named Scheider. He might also look to add a vet or two with some playoff miles on his skates as well.

And, finally, these Lafreniere rumors have to be pure garbage. The Rangers are not shopping their 20 year old first 1st overall in 50 years.

Has it been confirmed that the personal issues were related to the wife’s pregnancy?

The coyotes and the Rangers match up too well. We have a bunch of excess bodies that would be perfect for them to fill out their roster next year. Goat, Hajek and Georgiev for Fisher? This could be done in the offseason too. Or at the draft.

Arizona making Johan Larsson available, he would be a very solid and cheap pickup
Would be a big upgrade down the middle. Upgrade on McKegg. Already upgraded Gauthier with Vatrano. You could pair Rooney and Larsson on the 4th line. Could also have him on a 3rd line with Goodrow and Chytil.

In the midst of everything Pagnotta said yesterday on siriusxm, he confirmed what many already believed, and that is the Rangers Organization is tight lipped. They are hard to get a read on or get info out of.

I miss the Sather Rangers where we'd get a million different updates and 999,999 of those were wrong, but at least kept this board entertaining.
