Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XXI (Will these playoffs ever F'ing end?)

If Kreider were on another team everyone here would be sending boat loads of fake deals for him, he's not a cap dump, not a 40 goal player, somewhere in the middle. Teams value Kreider, we'll get a decent return imo. I could see Toronto wanting him since they are going in a new direction, could see L.A wanting him, Utah, a ton of teams actually.

Yep and that's why it makes no sense to keep Panarin. People act like we will never score goals again and if that is the case, good. Then Drury will be forced to figure something else out instead of forcing everything to Panarin. It's a shit way to build a team.
How do you see this trade happening? Panarin has NMC so it already limits the options. Next you need a club that would be able to absorb his salary. Even if NYR retain a little since they need cap space too - so let’s say $1.6m maybe $2.1m and the other team is able to take extra $1.5m-$2.5m then there’s still need to be about $7m-$8m coming back at least. Do you think this amount coming back in return will all be value in this circumstance?

I always try to have team first objective and in this case moving Panarin must makes sense via what’s coming back in return.

Objectively, other teams will see him as an exceptional special teams player and a veteran presence at worst. They could make a bet that after a good long offseason Kreider will return some of his old 5x5 form (with the right partners). He should be able to bring a good return in terms of futures (prospects and picks)

The league doesn't want whistle after whistle, and teams are starting to do as much interference as possible. I don't think I've seen as much accumulative interference as I did during the last game between Florida and Carolina. The problem is the teams that aren't taking advantage of it end up getting called late in the second period when they make a borderline interference play. I don't see it stopping anytime soon and players need to adjust or they're going to be ripped when they don't produce in the playoffs.
I get it. I just don’t enjoy watching it.

My proposal was 12+Kreider for Rossi+Hartman+Lambos+late pick. Gives us a young center, young LD prospect and another solid bottom 6 player in Hartman. Idk if the cap works though.
This is an exceptionally bad offer for Minnesota.
Break it down into pieces: how bad other teams would lowball Minnesota for it to turn to accepting one year of Kreider at his age and signs of decline in a trade for Rossi? Then you have them accept a first for the rest: a team that in the compete now mode so a draft pick is not worth to them in exchange for roster players.

Imagine if the Rangers had just as good scouts as the Panthers. Rangers must improve as an organization

I'm curious how many of those Florida acquisitions were also on the Rangers radar like for example Sam Bennett. I definitely wanted him at the time and there were a good amount of fans on HFNYR that wanted him, I'm sure the FO tried to throw offers.

Most teams probably don't want to deal with the New York Rangers though. It might be my cope but I have just always felt that way. Too many other teams wanting to fleece us. Maybe the FO just isn't aggressive enough and are too gentlemanly, much like our players.

Rangers tend to sell low and trade for players that are worse and have less trade value. The only recent trade that worked was Gaborik for Brassard + if the Rangers can somehow get that similar value for Panarin it would be a big win and could change the culture of the franchise

Kreider to a team with multiple firsts like Chicago, Boston, even Columbus if it's not on his no trade list seems like a destination. Anaheim even though they don't have much outside of picks and prospects.

Zib isn't waiving and he's definitely not going to Minnesota. He's a big city guy.

Rossi I'm not sure how he would do here. I could see him being a lot more Zherdev than Brassard.

Cmon. Rossi has a career total of 101 points. Saying that Minnesota wouldn’t be interested (if other team’s construct factors were made) is ridiculous.

If they’re moving on from Rossi who just dropped a 60+ point season bc their GM doesn’t like undersized guys who create from the perimeter, it would stand to reason that the same would apply to Panarin who plays the same way and is 10 years older.

i would pretty easily trade 12 for Rossi if that’s on the table. drury should be in on both rossi and peterka. if we can move out kreider/panarin while adding those two i’d feel pretty good about that swap moving forward.

I dont know how I'd feel about this trade. Trading an NHL dman who is in the top 6 for an unproven young player.

Id offer Jones and 2ed (AVS) for Howard

Trading Schneider for an unproven prospect would be a terrible move especially when said player won't be signed by the Lightning.

What a joke. I HATE that quoting some random tweet constitutes news articles these days and news apps don't give me a way to filter these articles out. Schneider is worth at least two 1st and two 2nds to Tampa Bay :naughty:
