Why would UTAH trade him? I’d offer Jones and 2ed for him. But is he a 3rd line center? I’d take a chance on him but I want him to succeed. Brings size grit toughness, can

I just don't get why Buffalo would pay Laf's salary for a relative-to-JJP unproven player.
Can they not sign JJP to the $7,450,000 AAV Laf currently has? If not, how much over are we talking about and is that money worth the risk of Laf peaking as a 60 point player?
Granted, we could extend JJP and he could contract a case of severe Ranger-Country-Clubitis
Also, we aren't getting Byram/Power without adding. I prefer to keep our players over forking over additional assets.
I have 0 interest in trading Laf and Schneider for Peterka and Byram. Buffalo will end up winning that dealSomeone answered this but it’s been rumored that neither Byram nor Peterka want to be in Buffalo and are looking for paths to leave ASAP. For a team like Buffalo looking to build for 2-3 years from now, likely, that’s not a good starting point. They need guys who want to be there and can be around long term. They have Dahlin and Thompson. I think Tuch will re-sign if the team takes a step. Add Lafreniere in there as well as someone like Schneider with Power taking a step and that team has legitimate potential a year or two from now.
Utah loves him. They aren’t trading him.Why would UTAH trade him? I’d offer Jones and 2ed for him. But is he a 3rd line center? I’d take a chance on him but I want him to succeed. Brings size grit toughness, can PK.
I know. He's underratedUtah loves him. They aren’t trading him.
Probably not unless he was on Chicago or LA. His entire prime came when two teams were lapping the field. If Henrik was in another org, would he have won a cup or 2?

Tbh the Rangers teams he got closest with were pretty good.

He would’ve won Cups on teams that won their own anyway. I don’t think he was elevating a non-Rangers team to a Cup win during his career given the competition, like you said.
How many more Cups do Ovi and Sid/Geno have if you put Hank on their teams is a better question.
This is how you know the offseason is WAY too long. LOLPresidents trophy and two wins from the finals to wondering if we could get Tony DeAngelo to play here again on the cheap.
It really is f***ing OVER lmao
Sure I get the Dolan hate, but you're being disingenuous to my legitimate point.Fixed:
The biggest hold up to any deal being completed between Buffalo and the Rangers is Rangers ownership. Dolan is a clown, very dumb, has a giant ego, and meddles all the time. Dolan doesn't want to trade with the Sabres, he doesn't want them getting his players and doing better, he doesn't want to think he looks like a fool.
Also the NYR organization certainly doesn’t have the little brother syndrome insecurity about Buffalo that Buffalo has about NYR. Buffalo is second fiddle to NYR in this state at BEST… There’s a petty jealousy component.Sure I get the Dolan hate, but you're being disingenuous to my legitimate point.
It is well known that Buffalo used the Rangers for trade leverage with Eichel while having no actual intent to ever trade him here. Pegula was a huge reason why.

We need 2nd round picks to draft those kind of upside players. They keep trading so many of those second tier type picks (2-4) and then rely on late round to draft depth bc there's nothing in the system. It creates a death spiral trading these all these picks away year after year. The problem is we don’t go for the upside, ever , especially on D. Yeah sure we can consider a 2nd pair defensive d man at 30 a success but there are so many superstar d men who were taken in the 2nd or later and we never find guys like that , because we don’t even try
both can true!Sure I get the Dolan hate, but you're being disingenuous to my legitimate point.

My dream 3rd line is Cuylle-McBain-OlivierI know. He's underrated
The disrespect that the 2013-14 team gets - "WCF was the real SCF, CHI would've stomped too" shits me to no end.Probably not unless he was on Chicago or LA. His entire prime came when two teams were lapping the field.

Yeah, we would have beaten Chicago that year. Not the following year, but definitely in 2014.The disrespect that the 2013-14 team gets - "WCF was the real SCF, CHI would've stomped too" shits me to no end.
That team would've been a very tough matchup for CHI (I think we would've won). LA were just the exact worst team for us to match up with, and even then, that series was far closer than the 4-1 final would suggest.
If only there was a reason one could point to as to why they would be mistakenly correlated to each other. Hmmm…As a Freshman in college, K'Andre put up 22 points in 26 games. Emery put up 1 point in 31 games.
Miller is already more skilled than Emery ever will be barring unforseen development on the part of Emery.
I love drafting guys who produce 0.23 PPG against children. They always work out in the best league in the world.
