Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XXI (Will these playoffs ever F'ing end?)

If this is the case, it would appear as though Miller either doesn't want to sign long term or the Rangers are unwilling to give him a long term deal. I know people dislike Soucy but having him around as insurance in case Miller is traded makes some sense.
insurance for what? of being ass?

KAM gets a one year contract or gets traded. A two year contract brings him right to UFA. Drury isn’t that stupid.

Well maybe.

I still think the offseason revolves around Lafreniere. If the Rangers decide to move him, he brings back big time pieces. I think Buffalo is a likely destination but I wouldn’t rule out Ottawa. He could help them sell tickets.

There is no difference between 1 year and 2 years for him.

2 year deal - He becomes a UFA after year 2. The Rangers can still look to extend him after year 1 if both sides want. A team trading for him after year 1 can also look to extend him.
1 year deal - He becomes an RFA after year 1. He can still become a UFA after year 2 because he can just sign the qualifying offer if he doesn't want to sign long term at that point. A team trading for his RFA rights after year 1 can look to extend him.

I don’t wanna lose Miller. Yeah he drives me crazy too but he has the minerals to be good. I’ve seen him be good already wearing this team’s uniform.

Were like a knife’s edge from running out a team with five 3rd pairing defenseman and Adam Fox
I’d give it less than 2 seasons before Schneider and Miller are firm top 4 defenders for whatever team we’d trade them to. It’d be beyond typical. Why would we want good 26 year olds when we can have more bad 30 year olds.

Did he fight anyone besides goofball Georgiev? I'm sure half the board could see themselves punching Georgiev.
Nothing that was reported as far as I can remember.....but when you think about it, it very well could have happened. However, the Georgiev incident took place in a public place.

Didn't K'Andre Miller have the most hits/60 of any dman on our team, including more than Trouba? I'm one of the biggest proponents of tuffness on our board but even I don't think Miller is as soft as people say he is. He's also one of the only guys on our team who can skate. Just play him with Fox, they were great together and compliment each other very well, one guy is sorta dumb but huge and an elite skater, the other guy is basically a brain in a jar. Put them together and you have a great Frankenstein pairing, then find a solid 2LD
Simple answer? No.
Long answer? Not even close.
He's still better than Schneider.

The only guy I’d be willing to trade Laffy for would be the ugly Tkachuk. Only way that happens is if he asks for a trade.

Georgiev is universally hated in every room hes in. Nyr’s entire room hates him. Again, theres a reason he skated to the nyr bench after the colorado ot win in the garden his first time back and told the entire bench to f*** themselves

I'd love Peterka but I'm just not willing to give up Laffy for him. I know Laffy has way more to give. We've seen those flashes.

The trade that makes sense is one of Lafreniere + Schneider for Peterka + Byram/Power

The Rangers get a LD and a winger they like who they won't have an issue re-signing like Buffalo may

The Sabres get a RD and a winger they like and who is signed long term.

Wouldn't it be something though to see them add in McLeod and the Rangers add in something on their end?

Yeah he’s so popular and valuable he had to go play in Russia. And the only reason he was let back into the league was by a senile Lou Lamarillo on a desperate Isles team

The only reason Lou signed him is because Tony had the same name as a Mustache Pete that Lou personally knew growing up in Palermo, Sicily in 1898.

Schneider is not a good defender.

He's really the opposite of what people think he is in that he's pretty decent at driving offense but not really all that good at preventing it from coming back the other way.

He has turned a corner on the PK though. Was very strong there last year before it fell apart for everyone the last month of the season.

If you read your own comment you'll realize why no dman looks good here unless they are on the pk. It's the man on man D, it's confusing, has us constantly chasing and does not play to the strengths of the group as a whole, the funniest thing is that the player most likely to succeed in a man on man got the least ice time, Jones. Fox isnt fast enough, Schneider and Miller arent quick enough for it. I'm fully confident that in a zone D, Schneider will be a good dman, same with Miller and it will help Fox as his speed is a concern with man on man. All of these concerns go away on the pk when the d play closer to a zone d.
