RE: Bern

Dude, you've thrown so much shit out there over the years you're bound to get something right but acting like you're Nostradamus and talking in the third person makes you harder to take seriously. You've gotten a lot wrong and suggested a f***-ton of things that were so far out there that they would never realistically happen and, obviously, didn't.

Fox and Shesterkin are cornerstones of this team for the next __ years. You can like that or not, but most of us probably think these are pretty good building blocks for a good team.

A well managed organization doesn't trade Zibanejad and retain 21M+ in salary for 5 years because Bern doesn't like him and hang on to Kreider, an asset that really is moveable, because Bern does.

The most realistic pieces that the Rangers have in play are Kreider, KAM, Schneider, 12th OA possibly Lafreniere, & possibly Artemi at the deadline. Those are the assets that should be in discussion.

Not trading the guy you just signed to an 8 year deal that's routinely the best goalie in the playoffs and the 1D that you can't replace.

Hello
I will do my deep dive into the best prospects in the business so maybe not the most popular names but the Ed approved steals
So far I like

Jake O'Brien - great center high IQ but slow so that's a knock against him
Cullen Potter - best skater in the draft, may be there at 12. you may read he is a LW but he was playing Center in the NCAA as a 17yo, very good !
Haoxi Wang - from Beijing China a huge dman 6'6 220lb and skates like Makar
Mason West - Another 6'6 beast, he is also a high level football QB who's being recruited by colleges for football, the QB of a college football team is exactly the type of aura and confidence our team needs. Jock in the high school movie, instead of guys like Kakko who would be the ones stuffed in lockers, Laf may be one of the popular ones but he's the guy still hanging around the high school parking lot years later smoking cigs leaning against his 1987 Honda Accord. no good.
Daniil Prokhorov - Yet another 6'6 beast, physically dominates his peers bull in a china shop type player

On what planet is O’Brien a steal?

Hes been pegged top 10 everywhere lmao. Probably the top 10 guy I like the least so that actually tracks.

Maybe my memory fails me but I thought I saw him ranked around 15+ at some point, I swear I read some people talking about him being a riser. On EP there's still one list (Recruit) that has him all the way at #26. But I'll concede he is less of a diamond in the rough/sleeper than those other guys I listed. What do you think of the others? I imagine you may find Potter to be just flash in the mold of a Zegras but he seems great. I wonder how good West would be if he was as focused on hockey as anyone else at this level was, I imagine he would go higher

O’Brien has skyrocketed in the last month or so.

Potter I would take if he was there. As badly as we need a dman, Potter is better than any dman in the draft besides the one going 1st

I like Potter a bunch even with some of the red flags. If he puts it together he’s going to be one of the best players to come out of this draft. Think he sticks at C long term too.

Don’t know enough about the others except Wang because it’s comical how well he moves at 6’6”. Wouldn’t be mad with him at all in rd2 if he hangs around long enough because there’s a ton to work with.

Wang is a very good skater for his size. Makar skating he is not.

A well managed organization would have listened to bern and not given Zib or any other player a full nmc like this and the bs excuse other teams do it does not cut it. Extensive ntc where warranted must suffice, if not too effin bad, and move on.

As to what's done is done, we either HOPE he straightens out, or we deal him and eliminate that risk. Now.
This is a guy who wigged out and cannot be expected to perform as full player going forward, and admit it, the closer to his mid 30s, the worse this is gonna be.
The worse he gets, the harder he will be to unload
It IS better to be rid of him just to set an example and establish NO MORE BULLSHIT
period.
But if you want to emphasize other considerations the lower his salary = the lower the risk for a suitor = more bidders = drive up the price.
So yr effort to throw shade and mud on me can capitulate to the above logic, which is based on fact.

and hang on to Kreider, an asset that really is moveable, because Bern does.
yes, you COULD get a sucker
and yes, you only need one.
BUT
if we are honest as to percentages,
Kreider was damaged goods and there is no reason for any club to pay, let alone overpay, at present.
IF IF IF inexplicably he is crushing it and looks fully healed and has demonstrated that first half of the season, you might get a good offer-> return
but not now
Now you only get chump change offers

And remember, it is possible to LTIR Kreider

The most realistic pieces that the Rangers have in play are Kreider, KAM, Schneider, 12th OA possibly Lafreniere, & possibly Artemi at the deadline. Those are the assets that should be in discussion.
Any/all pieces should be in play IF high enuf return
KAM + Schneid I expect to be worth more to us in most scenarios so worth keeping
bread has to go so he does not walk for nothing and we are not extending him
zib's sorry ass has to go = addition by subtraction

I will not capitulate as to Fox/Shesty kept under any/all circumstances.
Should being moved IF HIGH ENUF offer on the table b'c soon we will be married to them

Not trading the guy you just signed to an 8 year deal that's routinely the best goalie in the playoffs and the 1D that you can't replace.
Garand is fab, but he does not have NHL track record
You sell high on Shesty now, gamble on Garand

PLUS AGAIN, this team HAS TOO MANY FUGGIN HOLES
we need ample quality youth to start going in the other direction

til time permits...

But they did.. Please don't pretend like you were the voice against giving him a NMC. Nobody wants players getting a NMC, but they do, and sometimes that's the cost to sign the players. It doesn't mean we agree with it, but it already took place. They can't go back in time and undo that. Decisions now are made within reality of what they have, what they can get, and what they can afford to retain. They can't just retain 21+million over 5 years to undo their wrong decision.

From what I'm seeing, the vast majority of Zib's AAV is bonus money, which is why a buyout is so prohibitive. Does anyone know if there are any players whose contracts are structured in the same way?
