What about this

Lafreniere + Schneider for Byram + Peterka + 2nd

Panarin for Zegras + Mintyukov + 2nd ‘25 + 2nd ‘26

Kreider + Jones for Crouse ($1m retained) + 2nd ‘25 + 2nd ‘26

Cuylle-Miller-Zibanejad
Zegras-Trochek-Peterka
Crouse-Parsinnen-Berard/Othmann
Edstrom-Carrick-Rempe

Byram-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Mintyukov-Soucy
Vaak

In a vacuum (eg Byram not requesting a trade), I'd like to see the Buffalo deal Laff + Schneider for Power and Peterka (while dropping the 2nd).

I think in your proposals, the D is very good so long as they have the right structure/D coach. Left side goes from a weakness to a strength and I'm a big believer of building from the net out, which you are doing here. You also have several players who can play center aside from those listed there currently (Zib, Edstrom, Zegras)

Biggest questionmarks are that 3rd line (Crouse struggled big time last season though could rebound, Parssinen was good in his short stint before getting hurt and in the WC, does that continue and will one of Othmann/Berard step up and show they can produce on the 3rd line at the NHL level) and will there be enough offense after trading Panarin?

Zib would need to return to form as well as Zegras getting back to that 20+g/60+ point player.

I wonder who will pluck Rempe from us ? Flyers ? Sabres ? Canes ? Bruins......so many clubs might be willing to take that gamble . If he gets 1.5 million do we match or let him walk for nothing ? No compensation . We could lose both our big men . Drury better be ready to unload a couple of corpses when the playoffs end . Plus Cuylle and Miller to ink....we'll see soon enough what kind of GM he is when all is said and done .

Think that was the Olympics but idea is still the same
I could have sworn it was World Championships. Regardless, I wonder if Rangers can get some UDFA from Europe, college or juniors, like Zucc and Georgiev. A few young dman on the Wolfpack would be nice. Not much depth there. Any Neal Pionk types?

JFC Who cares! He's a 4th line player. No one sane offersheets a 4th line player.
If he gets an offer we let him walk. if he's offered anything over league minimum we let him walk.

We have actual roster questions and decisions.

It looks like we were both right. He played in the Olympics and WC the season before he joined the Rangers.

I'll keep on saying it...

I really wonder how much some of you who are pining for Byram have really watched him. I know @LokiDog has had eyes on him for a while (and I know this bc we've discussed this player a bunch over the last bit, we disagree on him) but on the whole it seems like theres a ton of stat sheet watching and just wanting a new player for the sake of it.

He has his strengths which anyone can use but all the things that people complain about with the NYR defense are traits that Byram has in spades.

While I'm 100% on board with getting a puck mover and it seems like theres no way that the NYR FO will do this unless the guy has some size (which Byram does, as much as RB wants to pretend that he doesn't) but this isn't the direction I'd go in.

JFC Who cares! He's a 4th line player. No one sane offersheets a 4th line player.

There are a ton of dumb teams out there though.

I think they'd match at 1.5 but if someone wants to drop a 2nd round compensation OS for him I'd laugh my ass off.

A 2nd for Rempe would be a f***ing gigantic win for the NYR.

Drury doesn’t unilaterally draft the players on his own. He’s just following the recommendations from the scouts and such. He’s not the one out there traveling and watching each player many times.
Drury has final say/direction and is the captain of this ship. He redid the scouting department based on a philosophy. My question was has he drafted a player outside of Perrault who has the potential to be a highly skilled offensive player. The answer is clearly no because no one can name any other of these players.

And that's a problem because it's always been this way for the Rangers since the trio of Amonte/Weight/Kovalev (you can argue Marc Savard, Stepan, Kreider, and Miller if you'd like), and the fans are going to get pissed and the whole "Drury is milquetoast" criticism gets amplified by his player selection.

I think one of the problems of 21st Century thinking and the rise of social media is that the information is there, but it's not always used in the right way or the wrong questions are asked. I care about bottom lines and fixing material problems such as the Rangers drafting real offensive talent who aren't dumb as bricks.

Is that why he brought in Kane and Tarasenkp against Gallant's wishes ? Gallant let him know about those moves before the playoffs started over dinner when Gallant informed him they would not stand up for one another.....and he was absolutely right ...Gallant that is . They should have kept him and deleted a few guys and we might have had a Cup by now . Remember...Turk took an expansion club without big star talent into the Cup Finals.....
Kane was a Dolan move, everyone knows it. And is was not the right move.

LOL...Drury using Dolan money thanked the guy mostly responsiible for those playoff runs with the lengthy deal . Shesty says hello ! Without Shesty here Drury would be managing an AHL club somewhere . Buchnevich WOOF !!! Nemeth DOUBLE WOOF !!!
He also brought in Copp and Braun who were good. Reaves was fine and a leader for a year even though he stunk by the time they got to round 2.

Not all his moves worked out and his draft picks need to pan out (Othmann I've never been a fan of, if he becomes a 40 point player I'll be surprised).

You have to look at the good with the bad and the bottom line: 2 ECF trips. There are no feelings and opinions there.

Which guys did they pass on who fit the bill with the picks they had?

2021 was a weird draft because that was basically peak pandemic. If theres a year where there is going to be a high volume of misses thats going to be it because a bunch of leagues basically went on pause and scouts couldn't really travel to see guys play in some of the Euro leagues.

The amateur scouting draft has done pretty f***ing solid work tbh. They've taken a ton of guys who were deemed "off the board" who have done nothing but improve since being taken so this is a weird thing to complain about.

If drury does trade kreider I think St. Louis makes a ton of sense. Drury has linked up with the blues on a couple of deals. They have a bunch of prospects that can help out nyr depth and are closer to nhl ready(dvorsky, jehco, jiricek, lindstein, etc…) they have a late first in this draft and some salary that can be sent back (Joseph, leddy, texier) which saves nyr 2-4 mil in cap. Plus I doubt kreider has stl on his nt list
This might be the best post of the year. Also note the Blues have no picks in the 2nd-4th round while the Rangers have 4.

Kreider, a 4th, and another player to the Blues for a first, a prospect, and a player like Texier.

The Othmann and Emery picks; Othmann at most is going to be a third wheel/sidekick who maybe hits 40 points, and Emery won't have much offense. They could picked any number of higher ceiling guys.

I'm not saying I don't like the picks he's made I'm saying that he hasn't picked any high offensive caliber players and it's going to make the fans more agitated because they already don't like his personality.

I hope that he changes his tune this draft and also I think Liley and his staff are better than Bobrov. I like a lot of their picks, but they're all support players.

Ok...

Which guys picked around Othmann would you have taken who fit the bill? The only guy taken after him who has had any impact to this point is Johnston (who was taken 7 slots later and was considered and overdraft but again, Covid.)

Also the Othmann pick was Moorehouse, not Liley.

FWIW, I agree on Emery.

the lowest OS with compensation return is a 3rd, which is still a massive win.

I liked Bolduc. Zellweger, Knies, Stankoven, Moser are all probalby going to end up better players....and the types the Rangers trade assets for in 2028.

Aho took out Reinhart. Tkachuk went after Aho. The Panthers are a team.

Aho took out Fox. The Rangers did nothing to Aho. The Rangers are a club.

None of the Canes came to Aho's rescue. The players on Carolina either felt Aho deserved the beating or they are also a club. Probably both.

Aho is so dirty and never backs it up. Still pissed the knee on Fox went unanswered.

We're definitely in the dog chase tail part of the pre-offseason where the same 7-8 themes are coming up over and over. I see it here and it's in a lot of my group texts and it always ends with a "we shall see" and looping.

More interesting is who will take over for Joe M. in the booth, will Muse stay on the staff/when will Sullivan announce assistants, and as mentioned before it's about

-Kreider Trade
-Dumping Soucey/fixing the D

Grzelcyk is going to be one of the two new LHDs coming in. I've accepted it. I hope he's Nick Holden levels OK and it's only a two year deal.

I've been saying the same thing for months. Some of his crap makes absolutely no sense and is completely unrealistic for both teams.
I appreciate that. The Kings fell ass-backwards into luck getting Byfield. He’s extremely important to the team’s future. I’ve been trying explain that to him in no uncertain terms, yet he refuses to see logic.

The Kings and the Rangers are kind of in the same place right now, Kings can’t get out of the first round and the Rangers are a much better team than the past seasons result. I like reading the opinions of Rangers fans how they see their team moving onward and upward. Didn’t intend to get under Rangers fans skins by posting on your board.

Yea lets let one of the more unique 4th liners, and one of the only 2 players who actually improved last season walk if someone offers him 1M lmao. Such nonsense.

Peterka would be one of the last players I would trade if I am the Sabres.

People need to stop believing every rumor and ask does this make any sense at all for the team trading the player. I Rangers need Cuylle types. Power forwards. Not another finesse skilled undersized forward. Signing another vet forward. I like Suter as a player and would take him if Carrick is not here. Rangers need a Drake Batherson type. A power forward with size in the top 6 that plays consistently physical. Batherson would be the player id target. Maybe Lafy and Edstrom for Batherson and Greig?
Why does Ottawa make that trade?

That team loses to Florida in 5 games. Zegras would get eaten alive in the top 6 and the forward group is weak.
