Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

Marty Straka. Marty St. Louis. Tree trunks. Never saw them get knocked down.

What is it with Marty's?
Crosby has trunks for legs as well. Have you seen Hutson's quads? Insane. Smaller guys like Nathan Gerbe probably wouldn't have sniffed a decent near 500 games if he wasn't absolutely shredded below the waist.

Toronto has Marner's money. He is gone. JT's money. Toronto should move on from him. Shanahan signed Tavares and he is no longer in charge. I would sign Bennett and Marchand if I was Brad Treliving.

Toronto had the opportunity to trade Marner two summers ago before his NMC kicked in. Shanahan wanted to keep the group together. It seemed like Dubas was planning to breakup the core 4 but Dubas was not retained by Shanahan. Toronto should have traded Marner before his NMC started. They would have gotten back a bundle for him. Now Marner will leave for nothing. Carolina offered Rantanen to Toronto for Marner and Marner said no. The Leafs wasted the last two seasons trying to win with a flawed core group. They tried to make moves around the edges but the real issues were in the core 4 players. Maybe the Leafs would have won two playoff rounds to reach the ECF in one of those seasons with the player(s) acquired for Marner.

Drury needs to copy that Panthers way of building a team. Barkov and Lundell. 2 players built through the draft. Both are center. I wish the Rangers had better scouts in the organization. That would help build a consistent aggressive playoff team.
I think that’s his goal. It clearly explains JT Miller. It will take some time to get there.

Ya he’s lived up to the contract
However moving him in his last year for assets has to be entertained.
No trade clause but he may want a change too

I think you go all in this year because there's no way we're replacing his production without landing a Kaprisov or something. This year has to bear fruit imo, and that's a lot of work considering where we finished. So with that said, if we're a top team we keep him and if not see if you can move him, I'd personally prefer to keep him for a couple more years if the cap hit was reasonable though. Panarin gets a lot of crap but I think people forget the years where our top point getters were in the 60's. I mean Zuccarello only hit 60 once while he was here.
