Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

Since when is “pissed because no one was game ready or trained in the offseason” a valid reason to literally go home? That’s, like, the opposite of a gamer…
Because he's still a head case...he's just the type of head case that you can build a winning team with.

Good thing for us no other team realised this. Specially his previous teams who discarded him with the bath water. We are so lucky!

The excuses made for this guy....
Just keep telling everyone who was #2 in points for the Rangers last year because that seems to make you happy (even if it's not the correct answer).

Whatever...Next season we'll get to reevaluate everyone again. I'd love to be wrong about Mika but I just don't see it and that's why I prefer we get rid of him even if it's not likely to happen.

It is very telling that you didnt answer my question and instead went on a rant

If the question was who I'd rather have it's JT. The rest of your previous remarks seemed to me a bit convoluted. Also I don't owe you answers just because you ask me something. :)

I get that Mika is your favorite player. I'm kind of pissed at him. It's hard to let go. Kreider's always been a favorite of mine. I'm kind of pissed at him too. It's almost as if some people here are married to certain players. Like anything else favorite players come and go. Sometimes it's time for the favorite player to move on to somewhere else. It really is.

I wish Mika would've taken a few games off to think about things and then come back and play with effort instead of being mired in emotionless play for MONTHS.

I'll take the Miller Approach for $500, Alex.

Miller came back after a month and missing 10 games and was still moping and refusing to play defence.

You don't think Tampa and specially Vancouver would have keept him if he was this winning formula centerpiece?
Your love for one player has you twisting things beyond logic at times. Mika was traded as well. Good players get traded (even 100 point scorers like JT). That doesn't mean they are a winning nor losing piece. Colorado was trying to trade for JT. I think they had pretty high hopes of winning. I usually like when fans support our NYR players but your need to put JT down to prop up Mika is getting pretty twisted. By the way Vancouver fans raved about how JT played vs McDavid in last years playoffs.

I wasnt aware that criticizing any other player than Zibanejad was against the rules. I am not trying to prop up anyone. Mikas season has been dissected to death by now and I believe the majority of fans agree that he had a horrendus first half to the season.

With that said, do I think that some part of the fanbase is acting irrational and emotional when it comes to Zibanejad? You can bet your ass cheek I do. Do I think there is a double standard among fans and extreme hyperbole when criticizing Zibanejad? Bet the other cheek too!

I'm sure you watched every Canucks game in anticipation of the big trade on the horizon to come to this conclusion.

I've read the Canucks board during the "feud", listened to multiple podcasts where beat writers discussed what was going on, heard Tocchet's praise of JTM, etc... and most had more of a stink eye on EP than JTM.

I'm not even sure why we're measuring dicks from two guys on the same team who each had trying years. Let's move forward and hope both take a step forward from this season.

Gretzky got traded. That's all anyone needs to remember for perspective on who can be traded regardless of how good they are.

Fair enough bud. Lets hope for monster season from both of them.

If you have a fair criticism of a NYR player I have no problem with it. I suspect other posters feel you are trying to bash JT to prop Zibs up. Whether its your second best scorer comment or quitting comment your JT criticisms seem all tied back to Zibs. I'm not anti Zibs. I think Zibs is aging which happens to us all. I don't have a problem with that. My concerns about Zibs were his defense last season and his reportedly quitting. Im not sure if Zibs was quitting or just playing badly but I do think its important for the team to address it with him before September.

At the end of the day, Zibadejad quit on the team, the fans, and the city. This was an *EASY* year to make the playoffs. The East is pretty dogshit, and Zibadejad and the other vets ensured we blew it. I didn't want Miller, and I think he's a locker room cancer, but it's not even in the same ballpark as Zibadejad.

You can say "Oh but he won't quit this season", but that's bullshit. How long til Drury or Miller push him to care and compete, and he decides he doesn't want to? Again? The only way to make sure he doesn't quit on the team again is to kick him off it. Otherwise we have 8 mil of complete unreliability sitting on the books. Addition by subtraction.

How do you know he "quit on the team" and that its not made up nonsense by the media/fanbase? It can't just be he played poorly? It can't just be that maybe he didn't train enough in the offseason?

I find it hard to believe that everyone just quit - especially when they were off to a 12-4-1 start. We were also told, by the same people, that Drury is some horrible communicator and nobody likes him and then one of the biggest complainers, Calvin de Haan, just said the complete opposite in an interview a few days ago.

Simple. I watched him do it. I watched him give 0 effort in puck battles, barely try to catch guys on the backcheck, stand in one place on the PP and do nothing. I watched it all. The dynamism of 4-5 years ago Zibanejad is long gone, and its not all age-related decline.

Hmmmm.....could there have been off the ice influences that altered the Ranger game ? Like...we have a Russian forward who is our gamebreaker and and a Russian superstar goalie who used to steal games on a regular basis until last season . One has to wonder if there was something going on . LOL...yeah I'm dancing around it.... I'll stop there .

If someone makes an irrational statement that we should limit the icetime of one of the teams top scorers I will challenge that. Whether the player in question is Mika or someone else.

I will also call out the double standard in regards to JT. And I am not the only one calling BS on that.

It is somewhat age related. If you don’t put the work in at his age, you will look slow and weak against hungry NHLers.
