Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

Would othmann and our 2nd get us Howard's rights? What's the comp pick that Tampa would receive losing him to free agency? He is really good.

If Sullivan's style is predicated on speed, thats not a good sign for Lafreniere. More and more Im thinking the Rangers move him and I bet it will be a mutual breakup. Drury did right by him and prospective teams by getting his contract done just for cost and term certainty. Ship him to Buffalo or Vancouver and be done with it.
Or he will be forced to play fast. Last season’s Laf, and first quarter of this year Laf would do fine. It’s really going to be mostly up to him.

Who is Howard?

Reposting from the Parsinnen re-signing thread:

He's a warm body, but for 1.25 you can do a lot worse. Hell, in 2014, we signed Tanner Glass to a 3 yr, 1.45 mil contract. Imagine being paid 200k less than Tanner Glass got, in a year where the cap is 26.5mil higher

We tried the juggernaut offense thing. I really want to go back to basics and just get a high quality defense. So stupid that we sign a goalie to an insane deal and then don't build from him out. I'm not that high on Igor but the poor bastard has never had a real defense in front of him. I'd actually like to see them focus on 100% pure quality defense for once.

I posted the story on Kreider in a Kreider Thread. I first posted it here,,,but I screwed up the post...so I decided to just clip it off my Messenger and post it in it's entirety minus a name or two. Posting has been hard of late...I have a cataract on one eye and my other one has the making of another cataract starting....hopefully I can get one fixed damn soon .

all best, take care, don't mess w/yr vision

Kandre has sat out for “mental health” hes a puppy. He’ll never be a dog. Cares more about fashion and feelings than winning and competing.
That's ok. I respect it. I think admitting you need help takes more balls than not. Don't get me wrong, I think the modern male has been neutered. But it isn't because they ask for help. It's for reasons I can't discuss here.

It has everything to do with the fact that the same issue exists with Miller now as when he was drafted. Tools but no toolbox. He is too inconsistent.

I'm not sure anyone can look at this roster and think there is a path to a cup. It would take career years out of all of our aging vets + laf + some rookies and Igor and Fox.

Signing Parssinen to 1.25 and Quick to 1.55 tells me big contracts are gone. Otherwise he wouldn't waste dollars like that.
23 men roster is still a thing. I didn’t see anything impressive with Parssinen but it’s this could have a nice upside or be easily disposed via waivers. So absolutely not an indicator of other moves Drury will or won’t try.

Anyone on here saying they would take Lafreniere over Hughes is just embarrassing.

Hughes played 20 less games than Laf and scored 25 more points. Even a broken down Hughes is still miles better than Lafreniere, quite literally.
You're missing one key ingredient; I'm a massive hater. =)

What? Based on what exactly? The only thing Lafreniere has over Hughes is health and size. That's it.
Those two things, yes. Plus I'm a total anti-fan of Hughes' schtick.

His injury history is very concerning, and if he breaks 70GP each year for the next 5 on his contract, I'd be SUPER surprised. Same with 80 games for two of those seasons.

What are you smoking? Jack scored 25 more points than Laf in 20 less games last year. There's no comparison between them.
I know.

I believe that Laf is on the precipice of being a 75P guy. Hughes is already a 75P guy because he does it in 60GP due to injury.

Hughes on a regular contender is a precarious situation because he'll help you get playoff position, but won't be available once playoffs begin.

I'm certainly being overly optimistic that Laf has that next step in him next season or the following one. It would take a similar amount of optimism to think Hughes' injury concerns will be behind him going forward.

Not looking to convince anyone, but I said what I said for a reason.

Mika is that you? making excuses for the players and demanding that the coach get out of the way and let them play however they want to play?
IF so stop f***ing loafing and start producing and I don't give a shit about your mental state anymore.

Look there's something to needing to fit a system to the rosters you have but we know this group has tuned out coaches on purpose and not just because they "couldn't play the system" but because they didn't want to. And when they decide not to listen to the coach they do poorly. Then the coach gets fired.

Stop making excuses for this shit.
"The players deserve their share of the blame..." Did you read my post? I didn't like the pond hockey systemless system.

I take Fox's statement as very telling. He said there was confusion on structure and assignments. Lavi said "there was no confusion." That really sounds like "struggling to" as opposed to "didn't wanna."
