Thats assuming other folks view it the same way.

To me, Mika is worth more than the 11tth overall pick in this year's draft, but this being the site it is, folks slobber over the unknown.

There's nothing that Larkin has done over the last 5 years that me even consider he's as good as Mika.

I also do not believe that what we saw from Mika this year is what we can expect t to see from Mika next year or the year after. I fully believe he's still an 70-80+ point player.

I'm not a fan of the style of game he plays, too much of a permiter player for my liking, but he's still a very skilled player.

If you look at this roster and assess the weaknesses and decide to hire someone whose team was even worse in the areas that you suck at then yeah, thats pretty tone deaf.

Looking forward to everyone wondering why Sullivan isn't much better than the previous guy when hes forced to throw Carson Soucy out there in top 4 minutes.

Pittsburgh had worse goalies, defenseman and depth than us for years. We don’t have a Crosby obviously but I think Sullivan is the most qualified coach the Rangers have hired this century.

Gotta make improvements to the roster and give young players a shot going forward. That’s my main issue.

I'm not a fan of unknown but Larkin is younger and has basically been a lock for 30 goals 70 points while Mika is 32 and has been declining.

Yep. Pens yielded the most high- and mid-danger chances against this season. Guessing Torts is the solution to the defense, which I don't hate.

I`ll make that deal if it involves Zib. Larkin for Zib, this years 1st and a prospect. But does Zib waive for Detroit? I guess not, but who knows.

Defense is highly debatable and I don't think the NYR depth was really any better. I'd take a top 3 of Letang/Karlsson/Pettersson over Fox/whatever/whatever while acknowledging that Fox is easily the best of the group of 6 and that the Pens trio isn't that good.

Goaltending yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that the Pens gave up more chances than the Rangers did last year and that was the worst iteration of the Rangers defense that we've seen in a long ass time.

I don't even think the last 2 guys have been "unqualified" if you're just looking down their resume and noting their accomplishments. In the case of the last 2 guys, I don't like that they're ignoring what they've done most recently and deciding only to focus on what they did a decade ago.

Sullivan comes in

More chaff is gonna be shed over the course of this year, and will it likely be a semi-punt year.

2026 offseason I’d bet all of Kreider, Zib, Panarin, and one of Schneider or Miller are all gone for sure. Possibly Lafreniere is moved too.

Eichel is brought in on a big deal. Rangers centers are Eichel, Miller, and Trocheck.

This next year will be used to shed the old chaff and reshape some of the young talent.

Rangers looked heavily at Peterka, and I imagine they will keep looking at adding a player like that.

I think there’s untapped upside with the Rangers defense and young players. I say this as someone who couldn’t possibly be more down on Kandre. Sullivan isnt Laviolette.

Hershey seems to have cracked the code in the AHL. Hasn’t really matter who their coach tbh. It would’ve been a hard sell imo to hire a guy with minimal NHL experience to this job, especially with Sullivan available. Trust me, we know you hate Drury lol

Aside from more points on Florida, yeah he did. A lot of hits, tough play, more takeaways then giveaways. Average at faceoffs. Good possession and chance generation. Florida just put him with better teammates and lo and behold, his production went up. I dont think Mctavish is bad. I just don't know that he is like bennett.

Or maybe you guys mean like bennett in that he could potentially be acquired for cheap and become really good. I dont know. Maybe he is great.

Great. Nothing changes. Probably keep the whole team together again.

I would like to see any of Peca, Muse, Leach, Nelson, or Carle given the job, but what do I know. Sully has 2 cups. That means he's a winner. And winners win, even without the greatest player of a generation. Right?
