So much for a thorough search. I wonder if Sullivan is the only candidate Drury "interviewed." I wonder if Sullivan asked Drury to justify his moves as GM since taking over.
I imagine NYR wanting to get under it before some other teams either just eliminated or potentially on the verge, have a chance to sit down and evaluate whether or not they want a coaching change.

Sullivan was always going to be the coach. At least now coaches and management will be on the same page for once.

As for a “thorough search”, if they interviewed a bunch of college guys and AHL nobodies, then hired Sullivan, what difference would that have made?

Seemed like old salt and pepper was always gonna be the choice

I didn’t expect it to be anyone else. I felt it in my bones before the Penguins even let him go.

I’m not against it or anything either. Seems fine to me. It’s just extremely predictable and uninteresting. Rangers announced that the sun rises in the east.

Sullivan was much more engaged in the ins and outs of the Pittsburgh organization as a whole than Laviolettdown or Uncle Fester were for the Rangers. Big shot with USA Hockey. Had the respect of Crosby and multiple ownership groups in PIT. Retread is an unfair label for a guy who has been in the same job for 10 years, but you can call him that. Rangers needed someone who acts like a CEO. Hes gonna outlive these players and Drury if it comes to that imo.
