Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

No he played like a person who was nursing injuries and was scared to make them worse. He shouldnt have been out there. But that is management fault not his.

His fault was telling his actual injuries and preventing any type of trade.

I cant stand him and his attitude, and have wanted him traded for years. But i will not fault him for playing. That is managements fault.
I've stated numerous times during the season that I believed he was more hurt than he let on, however there were times where he looked engaged & others where he appeared completely disinterested. I also questioned him playing in the 4 Nations if he was hurt, which still doesn't make any sense.

What I don't get is if it was simply injuries that were nagging at him, why did he freeze out the media for 3-4 months & then make some proclamation that he would finally speak on break up day. Then all that comes out today is some generic BS that we expect after a Monday night loss to the Senators. Something isn't adding up & he's still just playing his cards close to the vest. It won't come out until he's traded or retires.

Things you don't do in a leadership position in hockey

1) Call for a line change with 7 seconds left in the period
2) Play Hollweg-Betts-Ortmeyer 9 minutes in one period
3) Look at Ryan Strome's twitter 'follows' list

Guess we can add "Don't trade for a player and then never talk to them again" to the list. Thanks De Haan

Do the people running this team pay any attention at all to what's going on around them?

If somebody gets a hangnail, the good teams in this league send them out to pasture and then summon them like Yu-Gi-Oh monsters when the playoffs start.

Not to imply we were ever any good this year, but Trouba practically had his foot amputated last year and we did nothing to weaponize that, even when we actually were at the top of the league!

They could have put Trouba and the morgue and rented Guentzel with the money. I'm not saying that wins them the Cup, but the delinquency of duty to not do that drives me up the wall on principle.

Same thing here. Kreider is under contract next year and you want to get value out of him, whether that's on the ice or in a trade, and you let his condition just worsen.

If you really wanted to, you could have replaced him with the money you save, so you can't even give me a "they were trying to make the playoffs" spiel.

Rangers summoning Lindgren off LTIR:

If Dolan is serious about being more hands-on, he has to take action and fire Drury. He has to do something that doesn't come naturally to him: think like a CEO of a successful company and less like a nepo baby with blind loyalty and who sits on two cash cows, whether the Knicks and Rangers are good or not. His "manager", for lack of a better word, is incompetent and lacks basic communication skills, and his employees are whiny buttholes.

Mika is right about one thing: there is no team without the players. Yes, you can't fire all 20+ players, but you can fire the moron who "hired" those players and hire a more competent manager to deal with those players accordingly.

Not sure what some of you are looking for out of these interviews. I guess calling players p***yes makes you feel better. It’s just that simple, right?

Accountability. That's what I'm looking for. No excuses. No talk about "outside noise". No talk about Trouba or Goodrow. I want to hear that these pansies take responsibility for their play and effort, both of which were lacking.

"I have a job that I'm paid a lot of money to do. I haven't been good. I'll work on this summer to get better."

That's what I want to hear.

I've felt this way for a while but I truly think the best thing for this team was for everyone to get away for 4+ months, go enjoy the summer and friends/family, and get away from all of this. Not advocating bringing back the same team as there needs to be changes but everything about this team and organization this year was just too toxic and everyone needs a mental reset to get their own shit in order as well as to get away from this mess. Enjoy the time off, train hard, get your head on straight, and come back to camp in the right mental mindset.

The fans as well.

Kreider and Zib are guys that players look to in order to set the tone of the room and the franchise. You can see their tones today. It’s gross. It isn’t a competitive team. It isn’t even accountable. It smells more like self pity than anything.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

You’d still be calling them p***yes and pansies, mate.
