Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

Hockey culture. This is what happens when all of these players are told from a young age that REAL hockey players play through injuries.

If you want a successful organization, yeah - management keeping players in the loop of the goals of the team, the direction they're heading in, etc. is very important. This team had no idea if Drury was going to blow up the roster and rebuild vs. use cap space from Trouba/Goodrow and take another crack at a deep run. Drury never talked to them, and possibly had no idea himself. It's human nature for the players to struggle with that.
Struggling is one thing, outright quitting is something completely different. These guys flat out quit in the middle of the season when they went 4-15 during that stretch in Nov/Dec.

Is anyone on the beat going to ask this group how they feel about being coach killers? Or how they view Drury and management? Or why they are inept at defending? Or why they played victims all year and cried wolf over Trouba and Goodrow? Masterclass from the beat.
Kakko, Jones, and De Haan already answered that during the season.

Next captain material.

It's not a bad quote in itself. It just lacks complete credibility coming from Zibanejad. If that was Fox or Trocheck, I might look at it more seriously. Not it comes off as a disgruntled employee whining, and I just look at him and say "do your job better first and then worry about the overall picture".

Didnt bother him at all bc he made sure to make injury announcements at the same time to make aure novody would trade for him.

Not saying he wasnt injured. But i dont recollect another player in any sport saying what their injuries are during the season. And the timing of his IR stays and proclamations are more than coincidental. They were literally at the time of memo and again right at trade deadline.

There is your cancer.....remove
They need to remove panarin, kreider and zib.

And truthfully i am nit against moving fox.

They need to get rid of the entire core and just start over.

Most are past their prime anyway, and their are many open wounds and mistrust.

Time to rip off the bandaid and just start anew.

Oh and fire Drury right after so we can start anew with new management and not have any lingering feelings from the players who survive the purge.

The Schneider thing is sort of insane.

Also It’s obvious that the reports that Drury sits in the ivory tower and doesn't communicate much with people is accurate. That’s way too many instances of this guy having a situation fall apart due to a lack of communication

If it quacks like a duck, it probably is one. The fact that you can be the president and GM of a professional sports franchise and be garbage at communicating is stunning to me

He surely played like it.
No he played like a person who was nursing injuries and was scared to make them worse. He shouldnt have been out there. But that is management fault not his.

His fault was telling his actual injuries and preventing any type of trade.

I cant stand him and his attitude, and have wanted him traded for years. But i will not fault him for playing. That is managements fault.

I don't absolve the players for how they handled this season at all, but it's clear from every single piece of information that gets out about Drury that he's an hugely entitled asshole who can't deal with people and doesn't feel like he owes anyone an explanation for anything that he does. Like it or not (and it's really clear from the posts here that a lot of people don't), we're talking about human beings, not robots, and some basic humanity, shockingly, goes a long way.

I'll disagree with the bold.

Knowing or not knowing doesn't change what the players responsibilities are.
