Roster Building Thread : Part XVIII ( TDL is March 7th)

If Drury extends Panarin I’m taking a shit on the front steps of every Colony Grill in the tri state area
reminds me of Sir John Gielgud as Dudley Moore's butler Hopson, in Arthur:
"I'll alert the media"

The jury is still out on Othman but what I have noticed with Berard is that he gets pushed off the puck too easy. He may not be built to play at this level. The rest of this season should provide a better indication but I do not want someone in my lineup that is going to be a pinata most nights.
Am happy to give the kid every possible chance but as I've said, he IS way TOO small and unless he can develop Marty St. Louis core and insane exception to the rule center of gravity for skating, he is to going to eventually get too beat up to be effective.
That's 2-4 seasons -ish
If he can't cut it on puck possession now, that is an added prob, although that might be him working at a higher speed than linemates.

I'm very interested in Maccelli from Utah if in fact he is on the block. Kreider wouldn't waive to go there, so I don't know how it would work other than the Rangers do a three way, and some of those 800 prospects the Rangers have in Hartford who are all primed for 3rd and 4th line roles are included.
OR,
here's a thought: Don't trade Kreider given the status quo.
Surely UT will take other assets for Maccelli

Othmann & Berard should be Trocheck’s wingers in an ideal world. It’s unfortunate Mika has looked so bad at C

Laf-Miller-Cuylle
Panarin-Mika-Peterka
Berard-Trocheck-Othmann
Edstrom-Carrick-Rempe
Jonny B

That’s what I’d like to see up front next year
laf-miller-cuylle believers unite

Maybe. They aren't going to want to move Mika back when he has been much better at wing.

Signing Duchene and having Trocheck center an elite 3rd line is on my personal wish list though.

You can probably get him for next to nothing right now but he’s got a year to run at $3.4MM. I liked him when he played in Arizona. Have no idea what has gone so bad this year.

That's the difference between how Gorton & Sather ran the Rangers, and how Drury has run the Rangers.

To be fair Drury hasn't been in this situation. He probably was privy to the conversations with Henrik that led to the buy-out.

Now if you think Kreider is no better than Goodrow or Trouba and deserves the same as them then ok. That's your opinion.

I think that if Drury treats Kreider the same as the both Goodrow and Trouba, then he'll be in deep poop with the locker room.

Thanks to the HF reboot. I'm not gonna use the Heel name again. Rangers kinda stunk while I had that. I'll go with something new later this spring/summer, I don't get on here as much as I used to.
You did a masterful job with the Midnight Express

Enjoyed the game last night. $11M performance in net. Remember, like yesterday when we were out of it because of a couple of losses? And the prediction that we needed to win 70%? These other teams aren't that good. Keep plugging.
The math on those predictions never made sense for me. 1 predictor would say if we won a game we had a 70% chance of making the playoffs. Then 2 games later another person would say something like we had to win like 17 out of 20 games to make the playoffs. The math never made sense when we would be 1-4 points out with up to 25 games to go.

I'll apologize if they actually keep Soucy out of the lineup on the regular but I still don't buy it.

They didn't trade a 3rd at the deadline for this guy to be a scratch and Jones is always a light sneeze away from going to the gulag.

I thought Drury handled a very tough season pretty well up till that trade. I still do not understand it.

Exactly. You're basically saying that a guy who has been here since 2012, has meant so much to the organization both on and off the ice, should be treated no different than Barclay f'n Goodrow.

I'm more of the belief that Kreider will be moving on. But because of what he's meant to the NY Rangers, management will do right by him.
Drury and the owner could care less if he died tomorrow. They will explore whether or not Mika or Bread want to move. They will attempt to trade Laf and Key for equal or better returns. If they can’t they won’t. I don’t know what the plan is, but I’m equally convinced Drury doesn’t either.

He'll get traded, he doesn't have a full nmc. The way I'm looking at it though is that maybe Kreider is a bit of the locker room problem, I mean he sits out and we string together a few decent games, Mika is playing better he comes back and we're flat again. Last night we played well, it was almost like everyone just said enough of this crap we're going. I don't see any way Kreider is back next season, he wouldn't be here now if he wasn't hurt. When this happens we'll turn this team over to Miller, Fox and the kids hopefully.

Duchene feels like a guy that if he comes here then he goes the way of Brad Richards
I can’t rule it out. But when he is on he brings exactly what this team doesn’t currently have at center, and he has done it well enough of late to potentially make Trocheck the leagues best 3rd line center. That is the kind of situation that makes a team competitive.

Poor chytil. Knew it was coming. Hope he puts himself first and finally retires. The Miller trade was a win even if chytil was healthy. Knowing his history it was a slam dunk. So sad for chytil
