Roster Building Thread : Part XVIII ( TDL is March 7th)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

yeah, no I see the quote add/minus for each post,
but when attempting to use, not seeing multi post quote option

No quotes yet, or did I miss something?

Anyhoo, as to Rempe broke it, yeah that rap traditionally falls on yours truly, though now Remp-meister can get his share of the errr, notoriety.

This is because Laviolette chose not to break other pairs so by being paired with Jones he got 3rd pair minutes. Guess what happens when Fox is back and Jones is scratched (if there’re no new injuries)?

He could have worked him in. Hes done it with other guys before.

I don't think you're wrong, It's just ridiculous how Lavi will do shit like this (see: scratching a guy like Vesey for 20 games straight and then tossing him into the top 6.)

I don’t care if the calls are bad. What do the rangers think Rempe brings in his 8 minutes of ice time that makes it worth playing a guy who takes a penalty every single game

Apparently Chris Kreider has ZERO primary assists this year. WTF LMAO. Meanwhile Kyle Connor scored like 10 more points tonight
Chris Kreider is the favorite for the AL Cy Young award. 18-4.

Looking forward to the summer, which teams are lining up for Kreider? He has a 15 team no trade list. The number of teams doesn't decrease. 15 teams in the last three seasons of the contract. Unless the Rangers play hardball with Kreider, he isn't expanding his list.

You can strategically not include teams on the list knowing the Rangers aren't trading Kreider to a division rival such as the Islanders and Devils. Assuming Carolina, Pittsburgh,Philadelphia and Washington are not the list. How many of those teams want Kreider? Perhaps Carolina or Washington. Those teams are trying to win and have cap space for next season.

I am sure Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Colorado and Vegas are not on the list. They aren’t trading for Kreider at $6.5M for the next two seasons. They have their own players to re-sign and/or they need to shed contracts. Vegas needed another winger and they got Brandon Saad for free.

The Bruins are not "rebuilding" but the Bruins are not adding a 34 year old winger after trading Marchand, Coyle and Carlo for futures last week.

LA was looking for a righty at the deadline. Kuzmenko after they looked at Boeser. Vancouver couldn't get a first round pick for Boeser as a rental. Too bad Drury wasn't in the rental market, the Canucks would have gotten a first round pick for Boeser.

The 15 team list is too big. There are only a few teams which could probably make a Kreider deal. The seven Canadian teams are on the list. Utah and Chicago are looking to add players this summer. Utah traded Weber's contract to Chicago last week to free up $7M of cap space. Nobody really mentioned that. You know Kreider has them on his list. Buffalo would make sense. Veteran player. The Sabres need a better mix. He probably has Buffalo on the list. Columbus. SJ. Anaheim. Detroit. On the list. Yzerman is looking to add players. It doesn't leave many options. Kreider can't block a trade to every team but he limit the number of teams interested in trading for him by just looking at each situation. He doesn't want to leave the Rangers. He doesn't like how the team is run but he doesn't want to leave. He didn't like how Goodrow and Trouba were handled. He didn't like Jim Ramsey and John Rosasco being let go. That's not in his job description.

Do the Blues or Kraken do a Kreider deal? Nashville? Minnesota? Do they want a 34 year old left winger signed for two more seasons?

When Kreider's name appeared in Drury's memo back in November, people said the Rangers would receive a bounty or a bonanza of a trade for Kreider. That doesn't appear very likely at all now.

I don't think you care.....you just want him gone but some of us might wonder is this year's Kreider the Kreider we're going to see next year and beyond or is is going to rebound a bit and be more like he was last year?

I think Drury might trade him over the summer anyway but a reason to wonder about where he is is what if this guy goes to Tampa or Boston or Montreal and sticks in 35 goals and 60 points? Not even quite what he did last year but still pretty damn good for a $6.5 mil contract. What then if we've retained half his salary and only got a 4/5th rounder for him? Would not then IMO be good asset management. I'm not convinced that this season isn't just a one off shit year. He's always had his lackadaisical moments and we've seen plenty of those this year but more than less he looks like the same player to me as in the past.....just not producing.

Not to get me wrong if our GM wants to trade him I'd say go right ahead but I don't want to be retaining salary or trading him for some hockey tape and a bag of pucks.

His injury(ies) whatever they are/were didn't help. Neither did his season. Still, has value as a PP/PK specialist.

Honestly, mixed feelings on the guy. Quite the Rangers career but I think this season really hurt his legacy and that's less about his play and more about the behind the scenes stuff that also seems to be a lot of speculation.

He needs to go though. The Rangers need the cap space to address some of their issues and one of those isn't a top 9 LW'er.

I don’t think Drury would hesitate trading him within the division. Why would he considering how CK has played this season? Lav putting him on the 3rd line, and CK’s unwillingness to be a net front presence on the PP, certainly isn’t helping his trade value. I could see Anaheim wanting him, and he has some ex teammates there, so he would probably not have them on his no trade list.

I think under normal circumstances, Drury wouldn’t mind keeping him into next year to see if his game recovers somewhat, but he’s gotta be itching to be ditching that 6.5 million. I do think he will be shopping Laf and Key, but only for a 1LD and AC with some scoring ability, which isn’t easy. If he can trade them then Kreider may be here a while longer.

Interesting how the CY award winner leads in GW and SH goals. Honestly Kreider has had a down year but the brutality and hatred on this board from some of these so called fans is somewhat embarrassing. Even to the point some claim he was faking injury not to get traded. There are plenty others on this team that deserve equal or more scrutiny for their performance this year.
