It's clear Drury is identifying size on the back end. I know people will turn this into a thing but Jones or fox will not be here next season. I've brought fox's nmc up for awhile. If they decide Jones can handle the pp and they revamp the defense it's entirely possible fox is part of that revamp. People need to stop acting like it's an impossibility. It's not likely but it's not as far fetched as many want to project

Next year at the deadline, Soucy can easily be traded for a 3rd as a rental. This is a no risk, or very minimal risk, move

De Haan is going to be the 7/8. He's an UFA at season's end and he is meh at best.

Jones is on PP1, which looks good with him on it. He won't be coming out until Fox is out, and even then, they could scratch Vaakanienen for him.

Lots of options for Laviolette and they're all better than Trouba and Lindgren. This is a positive.

Also with Robertson down and Ruhwedel up, it balances the L/R options once Fox is back.

Nyr has three d to trade for significant return at this point (probably a forward) and they have themselves insulated in case they make that kind of trade.

Think at this point Miller is most likely to go if it's one of them. We know Jones is constantly teetering at this point. He shows that offense and then shows he is a liability on defense. Not sure what will happen there. If they move Jones with fox hurt they literally have no offense from their defense, none.

Yes, pretty much. He’s a big body who at his best is a 4/5D. He’s going to help

Also, this team really liked Mikkola but didn’t keep him. Soucy isn’t really that much worse than Mikkola when he came over. No offense but he’s not fun to play against

I'm perfectly happy to add some MUCH needed size to the blueline. I know some of you guys don't agree but you absolutely need big bodies back there to win a cup. We've seen it over and over again. The big guys don't wear down like we've seen the smaller guys do time and time again in the post season. They dish the punishment and it adds up over a series and over a playoff run. Again, my opinion is that you need a large defense core to give yourself the best chance at a cup.
