Staple claims it's nothing, so we've got a proper he-said she-said trade deadline drama situation going on.

Say what you want about the NHL but our TDLs are great now.

Acquire Peterka and flip him in a package for Rantanen? Or better yet Brady Tkachuk? He can join Stutzle. OTTA fans gona run Brady out of there with their stupid nonsense.

If all of this is real I'd guess there are a few things holding it up.

This deal may be contingent on other things happening first/along side it and/or hammering out a new deal for Peterka before completing the trade.

The latter doesn't have to happen, but I'm sure they'd feel better about getting that done ASAP instead of letting it fester into the summer.

Or just keep him?

He's very good. Why would the Rangers trade for Rantanen when they can just take a run at signing him in a few months if they want to.

You guys are just sour on a guy who didn’t want to be here anymore after he knew the organization wanted to move on.

Hmm I thought fans were 'sour' on Trouba for his poor quality peformance in relation to his how much he was being paid and how much cap space his contract was taking up. Fans were upset with Wade Redden's peformance for the same reason. In a salary cap world it's entirely natural for fans to criticize players for how much money they are being paid in relation to how they are performing. Players want to negotiate for top dollar contracts and then also want to feel entitled to get upset when their teams determine that their cap hit is no longer justifiable for their performance level, and seek to move on from them. If Trouba wanted to remain a Ranger he should have come into camp in the best shape possible and played his ass off to justify his cap hit. He clearly wasn't interested in or motivated to do that - so good riddance to him.

I’ve lived there for most of four decades. The suburbs are amazing, affordable, full of great people and food. You can fish/hunt/hike in the summer and ski in the winter. I’ve lived in major cities and the Midwest…and wouldn’t trade it for any of them.

That’s the nicest way I’m going to be able to respond to this statement.
I'll remove it.

Buffalo can be great if that is what you're into

Buffalo is soft and weak, they need some edge

Reading the smoke signals -- he doesn't want to re-sign there and has made it known to management he is going to play hardball and get out when he can

What happened to that kid? He looked so good a few years back. Maybe he pulled a Laf once he got paid?

Peterka has a ton of value. Needs a new contract that won't come cheap, but I'm skeptical here because this would be a huge trade if it happens. A foundational piece or two would be going the other way. Seems more like a summer deal if anything.

Weak and soft minded. Terrible locker room and culture there. They aren't beating the doors off in any game they play. We saw a taste of that for 6 weeks here this season. Drury at least was proactive about ripping those scabs off.

Yeah and Soucy has been ass but he does have size and muscle which I'm sure they'd want to replace that if they're sending some of it out.
He was bad this year with that organization in disrepair. All Vancouver fans will tell you how well he played last year. He didn't get injured or anything. JT Miller vouched for him. I think I kinda trust JT on this. Let's see if Soucy turns a corner after a couple weeks here.

Buffalo ownership is cheap, they hate giving out new big contracts

McLeod and Peterka both guys that need raises, Peterka substantially so

Jokiharju is a UFA at year end, so is Zucker - both are quality players

Buffalo is not making the playoffs this year, aren't they gonna trade those guys?

A lot to watch there

That sounds familiar.

I've got issues with playing him in my top 4 even at his best. Last years version 100000% can work on a 2nd pair... but you have to pair him with someone who is really, really, really good at getting pucks out of the DZ and can also handle his own defensively. Those guys are hard to find. Being great defensively is all good but if you're an absolute zero offensively and in transition? Thats tough.

It's very Lindgren-y.
