What are you talking about?

Someone asked “when do players have to submit their trade lists” and I pasted the answer that explains when trade protection lists are submitted to answer their question.

Also? “Ignore” me. One of the biggest reasons I’ve become abrasive in my posting here is that suddenly everyone is so sensitive that they believe they have a right to censor or silence anything they don’t agree with or don’t want to hear. The world doesn’t work that way, and neither do I.
I'm talking about NTC discussion. And unfortunately ignoring you won't solve it - as I said there's been pages of back and forth.

Isles appear to be officially selling. Boston has lost Marchand week to week and Frederic over the weekend. I think they’ll also be selling.

Curious to see what CBJ, DET, OTT do at the deadline. Theoretically they are far more desperate to make the playoffs than us.

you cant sell if you’re any of those teams. idk if they’ll buy but they wont sell.

Abrasive? Brother you just posted a message twice the length of any Bern post that was the entire page of the board.

Length = abrasiveness? I’m going to continue to be more abrasive until people remember how to post with their brains and not their fragile little feelings.

I mean; it’s a discussion board. I’m having discussions. You’re posting a snarky single sentence creating a false equivalency between the length of a message and whether the content is abrasive or not.

Which one of us is more aligned with the spirit of why this place exists?

What if my super long post was about a beautiful unicorn I met last night who told me that K’Andre is going to find the secret scroll of defensive tactics and be imbued with the defending acumen of Nik Lidstrom? And then I told every poster how special they are. Would that be abrasive because it’s long? Maybe I’m just tired of a ton of posters being unabashed hypocrites (because what’s less abrasive than the snarky crap you just posted) and just never getting called out on it.

Which means other people are engaged in a discussion about it. On a discussion board. Heavens me.

The posts would actually be worth reading if they involved unicorns. Maybe include Rempe and dolphins.

Dolphins are like the most intelligent creatures on the planet or something; there’s too large a gap to have them both in the same story. But maybe a talking Grizzly who’s just misunderstood and teaches Rempe to be a gentler giant has some legs.

i wasn't asking "why should they sell" i was asking "upon what information are you basing the assertion that they will"

sources please

My source is the deductive reasoning in my brain. I dont know what passes for a "legitimate" journalistic source anymore.

yeah the conversation isn't about GMing overall.

no disagreement with your arguments here - not going to go down the list but the piece I most agree with is the skill idea: that hard negotiating with agents just isn't his forte.

However, i think it's possible to further challenge your assumptions here. We are operating with a shared understanding that the Rangers are a *destination* franchise.

It's mentioned often as fact but I'm just not sure that's true, at least not for the types of players that win Cups. The Rangers attract, and historically value, a certain type of player and personality. Cuylle, for example, is an outlier. Is it possible that guys who want to squeeze every dollar out of the team are more likely to want to play in NYC?

Take the country club culture idea. Is it consensus at this point? Do we all believe it exists? I ask because: if we can tell it exists, if we "know about it" just from outside observation of on ice play, every single player in the league knows about it too. NYR is where you can go get paid and slack off - enjoy the fruits of MSG living and not have to earn it in the gym every day. This is to say nothing of the tax/cost of living comparison that almost certainly inhibits AAV suppression of any kind.

I think we also see that NYC is just not the destination it used to be. You see it with the Yankees too - they used to be the peak of the mountain. Now they're literally just another franchise, just another team.

My point is that the assumption underpinning your argument: "NYR are a destination franchise" needs to be heavily qualified, if not completely abandoned in the context of contract negotiations.

Another, more tinfoil hatty note on what you're asserting: I think Dolan has a lot to do with the way we do business. We know that Drury's communication style and management style is brusque, potentially disrespectful, bordering on ruthless. I honestly believe that players give other franchises' management teams a break to get the deal done based on goodwill. I know it comes down to dollars and cents, money talks, but most hockey players are not trying to stand out. They understand that in a hard cap environment, AAV is zero sum relative to their teammates. There are cultures, hierarchies, and social relationships. When guys want to keep a team together, want to stay someplace, they will bring all of it into the negotiating room. I don't think the Rangers' FO gets those breaks because I don't think there is a culture of openness, respect, and goodwill in the corporate structure of the organization. I think that matters.
not addressing the rest of the crossfire going on betw you and other posters

howev, disagree as to the bold
sure Yanks are not the ONLY elite option now, but they are certainly up there and are not "literally just another franchise, just another team".
Rs are still a preferred destination, imo, but that is not nec a dominant concern is how I assess it.

Calling Byram a top 4 D is being kind.

He’s shown flashes but he’s hardly earned that title. Hes been ass away from Dahlin in Buffalo.
Yes, but that's not the core prob
He's been durable enuf lately, but the degree of concussions early in his career does make him, I suspect, at severe risk that he's more susceptible to one bad hit and then worse than losing the guy and he's ltir so we can recapture his cap, we have him playable but not effective.

pass unless the cost is super cheap driving down the risk, which it won't be

But who's counting?

Love to see the Adam Herman's and Greg Wyshynski's of the world downplaying JT Miller's impact once he got here. Not like those nerds don't have an ax to grind or anything. Same guys who fawn over Elias Pettersson because he's European and realize they got hoodwinked by a indifferent player.

I would like to see:

Cuylle-JTM-Zib
Panarin-Tro-Laf
Othmann- Pars-Berard
Edstrom-Carrick-Rempe

If Edstrom can’t make it back, then in October. Need to find that LD to go with Fox and not looking half bad

Begining of the season Miller was playing so bad people wanted him run our of here. Always revisionist history to push an agenda

Okay? There have also been suggestions to re-sign Kravtsov posted on here. There’s a whole circus of clowns on here that think trading Fox makes our team better. The ability to post on this forum doesn’t grant the ability to post intelligent thoughts. Some people are just stupid.

Facts are, Miller-Fox controlled play to the tune of 2/3rds of the goal share, and had some of the best metrics of any pair in the league 5v5

Wyshynski doing is incredibly on brand.

There are clear things that aren't going to hold up (for Instance, JT Miller is not going to continue to shoot 35% but that in itself is a bit of stat correction from what he had done in VCR) but he's been very good since being moved and that shouldn't surprise anyone because he's been very good for a few years now.

That "third" line is kinda shaky and I wouldn't be surprised if a coach leaned heavily on his first two lines with that lineup.

They could round into shape and all but at this point in the year I'd suspect the coaches wouldn't be convinced by two rookies being reliable enough for the "stretch run". Now coaches do dumb shit, but I'm just sayin

Not some of the best.

The best.

The FACT of the matter is deal Fox is good/bad based on the return, i.e., the opportunity cost of what we think would be a haul vs self renting, which can go down if he can't take wear and tear well gong forward

Refusing to consider either scenario to keep/trade is close minded
