Rangers have 2 retention slots left. Can Drury recoup what he traded to Pittsburgh for Smith? 2nd in 27 and 5th in 25. 25% retention. Drury can't trade for less. Wenneberg was a 2nd and 4th with 50% retention. Pittsburgh is already retaining 25%. $3.75M. Rangers retain 50%. $1.875M for a Cup winning forward.

CDH is in the deal because he's an experienced NHL dman with little value. We have zero depth on defense, especially with Fox out. We needed a warm body. I don't think he'll have much if any value around the league.

I personally still believe Laf can be a good player, however, would you trade Laf plus Kreider and a pick for a signed Raantanen? I'd do it, it would make the cap tricky to fill out the bottom 6 I suppose but we'd have a bonefide rw finally.

Why would we do this when we can sign him for nothing in 4 months.

Regardless, do we really want to overpay another winger who hasn't proven he can produce without Nate.

No reason to complain about this, youngish bottom six player, a body for d for the rest of the year, and a few picks for a 4th liner and a dman that wasn’t going to be signed.

I think the biggest piece was the 2nd round pick. Seems like a solid rental deal for us.

You feel like you could get a real asset for Kreider. A young long term LD with first pair upside seems doable.

Pärssinen is good, Bednar just hated him in Colorado, Brunette also lost his interest on him. Was very good under Hynes. Arguably, he's as good if not better than Chytil skills wise. He's a center. He has #2C upside.

This is optimistic but the rangers should give him a good shot the rest of the season to see if he can handle the 3C.

Always liked Lindgren, knew he wasn't gonna be a long term fixture with the way he competed earlier in his career. Heart and soul Ranger, wish most of this team had half his heart. Good luck Ryan, hope you can raise lord stanley in Colorado.

Hes 24, I'd say 3c at this point though stranger things have happened, I mean he'd have to leapfrog Miller and Trochek, as well as Zibanejad if either of those get hurt.

Like I said, chance to beid 6 long term. Right now it looks like he's our 3c and zib will stay on the wing, long term he could become a low end 2c tweener type. Long term...
