Speculation: Roster Building thread - Part XVII - (TDL is March 7th)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
They never rebuilt, they retooled.Rebuilding teams don't go out and trade for Trouba and sign Panarin.

When you tear a house down, and then put it back together, it means you rebuilt it. Anyone who wants to say the major sell off of 17-18 wasnt a rebuild is just arguing semantics.

I could see a move for Valimaki now that he has cleared waivers and there is an obvious need.

I am really concerned that these injuries may mean Lindgren stays for the remainder of the year...

I've never been more confident the Rangers are making the playoffs lol. The more bleak thinks get the more I think it. Id go for Vallimaki but I also don't mind seeing what Jones and Robertson have. It's sink or swim time and theoretically the right move is to give our own prospects the chance first.

I still think Lindgren will go based on what offers they get for him. He's actually been good recently in the defensive zone. there are many teams imo that would love to have him 50% retained on their bottom pair. Vegas, Dallas, Colorado. Maybe Detroit or Minnesota. I think there will be a market there.

Dvorak for Brodzinski ?
already said no but it bears repeating

you have historically been anti JB, anti Rempe, and pro Vesey/other losers

while obv Eds-Carrick-Rempe needs to be a thing unless/until Carrick is bumped up [sit Zib], putting Brodz was the correct Carrick replacement, he is obv the answer while Eds heals

After proving he belongs and then some, JB should not be given the bum's rush.

Ditch Vesey

If Fox is our long term their chances are as dead as they can get.

If Drury has the balls to trade Lindgren, he is going to need to get at least a serviceable depth NHL d-man back just to ice a roster.

How about:
Lindgren to COL for NYR 2nd '25 + VAN 4th '25 + COL 4th '26 + Kylington

Kylington can play at least at a NHL level and he'd be playing for another contract. UFA at years end

I still believe the path has not deviated from buying & selling. If the Fox injury is a season ender maybe you pump the brakes on the prices you're willing to pay but the team still has needs and should be opportunistic. For all the doom and gloom they are only 2 points out of a playoff spot. We suck but the Eastern conference also sucks so why shouldnt they try to make it?

Zac Jones PP1? Not saying it's going to be elite, but he can fill a role.

Miller is a big issue if longterm. Vaak is going to get big minutes, let's see if he can stay healthy and play well. Same goes for Schneider, he's going to be challenged.

Would love to have Mancini now cause there would be a spot. It's going to be Ruhwedel unfortunately. Might be time for Robertson to get a look. They called him up for practice, so he's the 1st LHD callup.
As long as Lavvy is here, Jones will barely get on the ice....forget about the PP>

Well easy decision to sell now
It was easy enuf to see this early on in this season
when the roster showed, even before Zib wiggin out and Kreider's back issues, that we need mo/better horses

peeps just gotta have the balls to say so in real time

Rangers should be doing everything to move Panarin & Mika. Allergic to the dirty areas and physical play. Panarin floating everywhere and the amount of mental errors Mika makes drives me insane. There’s a solid team in there when you’re not paying Panarin, Zibanejad and Kreider 26m+ on the cap. Those guys don’t hate to lose enough because it got normalized during the rebuild
fine o freakin fuggin lee!!!

Are you at last admitting I'm right, Zib should be removed asap [much earlier, pref], and that ck deserves a let's see w/his back, and in any case, trading him now and getting subpar return is stupid?

Yes Robbie, also now Scanlin
why not, what is the worst that can happen
w/so few games left, it can't hurt

Yet he could barely move and only played around 4 minutes against Canada. Im sorry but its silly to look at CK and think that is the normal physical CK who is just upset he might be traded. You can literally see the discomfort and caution on his face at times.
Well said, kudos for demonstrating compassion for your fellow man

that aside, everyone who wants to sit in judgment of ck and speaks authoritatively about his injury, my ? is how the eff do you know?

I'm not a dr, but isn't it possible that with all the things in the body that connect, ISN'T IT POSSIBLE that instead of shutting down 111%, that he have shifting intervals of
sitting -> playing less than full tilt -> easing up -> going full tilt?

don't make me download the "you hypocrites" speech again...

You''d be lucky to get one draft pick for Lindgren, much less 3 picks AND a player.

Kylington has played a grand total of 10 games this season for Colorado and is a UFA at years end. As I said above, I think his value is a 2nd + 3rd, Colorado doesn't have any 3rd's so (2) 4th's. Maybe it's 4th + 5th but I don't think that it is far off

I like the idea of Lindgren and Smith gong together to get a bigger return. Would a team trade a 2026 first for both guys retained? Imo we have the evidence from previous deadlines, and even trades this year, that price is the going rate. Im sniffing out Vegas for that. They have a pretty banged up defense and I think they'd jump at the chance to add reilly Smith back. he's a solid player on a true contender but he's not doing much for us at this point.

I could see it, but I'd be okay with getting a couple of 2nd's and a couple of mid-round picks separately. The team needs picks in general.

Minny could be, 1st and stramel for Lindy/Smith both at 50%.
