more unregulated doomtelling! it's addictive to consume tbh.

bro the rangers are not as bad as they've been this year. and they're not as good as they were last year.

they will find a level somewhere in the middle of those extremes, and the moves that Drury makes are extremely important for establishing a direction.

replacing kreider essentially remakes the top 6 (post JT trade)

replacing Lindgren essentially remakes the top pair.

Goaltending is voodoo and if Shesterkin were a security, now would be the time to begin heavy DCA. he'll get back to being the guy.

but by all means, in the meantime keep this prophet of sorrows thing going. it's fun to read.

That particular statement is in reference to the fact that our best guys younger than a 27 year old Fox (not saying he’s old, be he isn’t one of the young guys anymore either) are Laf and Cuylle. Period. Schneider? Maybe KAM if he ever remembers how to play? It wasn’t saying the guys on the roster won’t likely rebound a bit from this mess next season, but they’ll all be another year older and if you think there is anyone among Bread, Kreider, Vinny, Mika, JT or even Igor (turns 30 early next season) whom we haven’t already seen the best days from, I would have to disagree with that.

There’s nothing in the system. Zib, Tro and Miller are centers who are/were all bonafide top six players over the past 5 years. They’re all starting to decline to various degrees and there isn’t a single top six center prospect in the system. Not even a long shot one. Bread and Kreider is like 75 goals and 160 points per year. Perreault + Berard + Sykora isn’t replacing that. The particular sentence you picked out was only in regards to the bleakness of this team’s not so distant future. We will continue to have to rely on signing UFAs who have already played 75% of their best hockey to inflated contracts in order to make up for our desolate prospect pool. It never works. Bread was probably one of the best UFA signings of all time with how he produced for us, and it still didn’t work. Without looking, I have to imagine we are easily ranked among the worst prospect pools in the league. Bottom 5-10 for sure, if not worse, no?

Hope to see a Larry Brooks tweet sometime soon.

It's that time of year.

Good-bye Chris.

Ryan Lindgren goes too.

The Rangers locker room will crushed and devastated. NASA says an asteroid could hit the earth in 2032. The asteroid will hit the Rangers room hopefully soon.

Mika will waive his NMC in the summer.

Drury grabs his balls and trades Fox before the NMC starts on July 1. Shop him to specific teams.

Misery.

JT Miller will think maybe Vancouver wasn't so bad after all. LOL.

Need Lundell in the trade.

Where was the Kreider thing posted?

It took maybe like 10 career games before Laf and Kakko were criticized. All of these people calling for a full rebuild will hate the Rangers prospects the second they step foot in the NHL. And when we're basically the Buffalo Sabres/Ottawa Senators/Detroit Red Wings/Anaheim Ducks of the NHL I'm sure people will be happy because of the full f***ing rebuild. You realize way more teams that full rebuild are garbage than cup winners right? This board never f***ing learns.

yup... Look at the Devils, they did 3 rebuilds in 10 years, they've seen 2 playoff appearances and 1 playoff series win in that time

It's absolute nonsense from pie in the sky people that just want to stomp their feet. Maybe with a bit of different luck the Devils get 2nd take the middle 6 upside Kakko instead of Hughes and are as bad as just about any team in the league. But people are calling for our best defenseman who is young to be traded just so that we have a rebuild. What a ridiculous f***ing fanbase.

It blows my mind, how the worst 8 seed in recent memory in the NHL that got swept by the same team everyone thinks sucks is now the best team in the league in one year but the Rangers have to blow up the whole f***ing team according to people here and trade f***ing Fox instead of getting him an average partner.

Because they should strip this to the nails. But they aren’t going to so it’s irrelevant

Have you any idea what the typical success rate is of a rebuild that "strips this to the nails" and how long it takes for those to become competitive?

It's over 10 years even for the "successful" ones and most don't even get that far.

When the Rangers had no 1sts 2013-2017 they signed Kevin Hayes and Jimmy Vesey for free who were 1st round equivalents as FAs. They have a lot of cusp guys to fill in as roster Fs. Someone will step up and outperform, likely Berard.

I think they'll monetize this coming 1st for a roster defenseman, and probably a good one. They have a lot of work to do prospect wise on D (as in they have functionally nothing) but you can make stuff happen.

I don’t care. You also have to recognize when it’s over. You pay the smart people to not mess it up. We aren’t Buffalo. We will be able to get talent because we are NY and we are O6

I care. I don’t want to sit through 10 years of crap hoping that may happen to hit everything just right.

Some of us like to live on the edge in our fantasy worlds. Others apparently like a slice of plain white bread and a glass of water on the side, for dippin'.

Rangers fans: We're not going to be Buffalo because we can get talent

Rangers in 2019: Get talent by signing the best free agent available who turns into one of the best free agents in history

Rangers fans: Not like that!

Then enjoy having a miserable time for 10 years on the hope of the small chances you turn into Colorado (First top 5 pick was in 2009. Won cup in 2022 13 years later which is the only year they've made it out of the 2nd round in the last 16 years).

Conversely, you could be Buffalo who started blowing it up after 2012 and have yet to make the playoffs since.

No that’s not what I am saying at all. You build the strong infrastructure so you are bringing these guys in when the time is right to augment the core. You don’t bring in these guys to be the core. Rangers do this backwards all the time. Our foundation is rotten.

How is that worse than the current black hole that we are sucked in

How is that worse than the current black hole that we are sucked in

The current "black hole" has involved making the conference finals in 2 of the last 3 years.

You're losing your mind with one bad season. You're going to be able to handle 10 straight bad seasons with no playoffs or first round exits? I'm sure you'll say yes if (in the unlikely scenario) it pays off in the end. I'll believe it when I see it.

If we deal Fox, two years from now we'll be whining that we don't have a #1 dman and how hard it is to get one. He's not old. He's also not someone who relies on his physical tools, so he should age pretty well. Unless he loses a major step speed-wise and is an anchor.

Totally agree. And you also know that Fox will thrive in a different environment. They all do. Even Brett Howden.
