For a player on a bad team that logs minutes all year at 6v5 and PP1, how many built in minuses is that for +/-? Gotta be like 10+ SHG and ENG against at least

Depends on which hand and which finger. Some are a much tougher situation than others.
There was a play after Trocheck returned from the finger injury. Fox pinched along the right side wall and passed the puck to Trocheck in front of the net and Trocheck got off a nothing shot. He wasn't being pressured. He missed most of the 3rd period of the Sweden game. He barely played last night with a short bench. He went 0 for 4 on face-offs. He was a nonfactor.

Fine, Fox is not having his best year. This was the stat line less than 12 months ago playing injured most of the year with a diminished Lindgren on a team that was even 5 on 5 last year.

You really need to be extra dense to believe that this 4 game sample size of an all star tournament proves he's not an upper echelon player but being a PPG defenseman while playing injured while carrying the corpse of Ryan Lingren around and ending up +21 on a team for which the strength was special teams means less than that.

Trade him quick then Kreider up next

That would be incredible clown level
Shit from Carolina.

I don't see it happening. Trading him would basically be saying "we don't think we can win the Cup this year", because they're not getting back pieces that'd make them more likely to win than Rantanen does. I think they self-rent and keep trying to get him to extend.

Probably get flamed for this but I still care about +/-

It's a little bit more work, but if you're looking for +/- type stuff, you're better off looking at 5v5 Goal Differential/5v5 GF%. It tells a more accurate story than +/- because it eliminates some of the extraneous noise

I dont want him traded. Fox is my favorite Ranger since Hank.

I want to know why he looks so crappy this season. I know his results are similar, but the eye test is startling.

Don't you want them to sell everyone? Trocheck playing hurt helps them lose.

Fox is an upper echelon player. But don't judge him in best-vs-best games where there are international stakes.

See how dense that sounds?

You are repeatedly using "all star tournament" to try to gaslight this thing, expecting us to connote that with "all star game". When was the last time players got major injuries from all-star games?

If its the thumb, index, or middle finger on the lower hand that is tough. If its the thumb, index or pinky on the upper hand that can be an issue as well. Hopefully they can immobilize it in a way he can grip his stick well. He may have to skip faceoffs if its bad.

Because he has peaked, checked out after getting his contract, and has a very limited physical skill set.
At best he's a 2nd pairing guy stealing $9m a year and with that anchor Drury somehow has to find a whole top pair plus fix the other holes on this team...
There's nothing we can do about it because he won't return the value you need in a trade, but it's just another reason there won't be a cup on Broadway for a very long time

And it's perfectly fine to ask that, I do think the night and day difference between when he played with K'Andre (another board whipping boy) and when he's played with Lindgren kind of answers that.

What the hell did I just read?

Rangers 5v5 with Adam Fox on the ice: +12 goal differential
Rangers 5v5 without Adam Fox on the ice: -15 goal differential

Please trade Adam Fox so I don’t have to read all the Pejorative Slured posts anymore and the Rangers can sit in mediocrity for the foreseeable future.

Here’s data from a guy who literally has to watch every game to compile these numbers. He’s basically the same exact player.
While constantly reassessing the contributions of any and every player is appropriate, the main ? w/Fox is NOT what is he doing for us NOW

b'c we have so many effin holes, we need to ask if he is dealt, how much help can he get us
that MUST mean quality youth to start a reset, not coke for pepsi

This kind of stuff here frustrates me. I get some people want to trade Fox for the reasons they have. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't think anyone is advocating that the Rangers should keep Lindgren over Fox. So why is Lindgren even being brought into this? I think we all know that he will be traded. No reason to shit on him in order to make any point about Fox. Lindgren gave everything in him for this team. He should be commended for that.

Unlike Zib who wigged out for no good reason and took 7 or so wks off at our [team] expense, and is STILL unwilling to play defense and have signif contact, Lindy is as you say, a victim of his selflessnes, and quite the opposite, has put the team first

Unfortunately, he does have to go, b'c he has too much wear and tear to play high end mins w/quality, and we need to see if we can get even a lower pick for him as a depth rental

but @Mike in Houston is right, no need to diss Lindy

A second pairing defenseman who somehow grades out as one of the top 5 best defensemen in hockey?
Higher if we consider RH vs LH

Kredier > Connor
Connor w/ term > Rantanen UFA
ergo Kreider for Rantanen is a fair deal. Wrap it up boys. It's a doooooone deal.
Great then he puts up 45 points here next year at 13 million per.
Pass give me a decent top 4 dman or a decent young center instead (I know small chance of that happening).
