Moving Kreider is not a priority for me. If I had my druthers I'd rather move Zibanejad. That said I think Kreider would be much easier to move and could bring back a better return. He does have a couple years after this. His $6.5 wouldn't be bad at all for a 50 point player which I think he could get back to next year. He can pk and be an effective power play guy. He's been a productive playoff player. These are things though that should make him more attractive to potential trade partners than Mika IMO---who's not been quite as good a playoff performer and who has an $8.5 mil cap hit with 5 years left and whose play was faltering even last year.

As far as Lindgren---our defense in general we need to change things up a bit. Lindgren's not an ideal partner for Fox because of similar size and he's not physical enough because of his size and because of that he's too often injured or playing banged up. I think Fox could use a bigger, stronger, more physical safety valve kind of partner. Lindgren's contract this year also is a little high and he wanted more. For a 20 point defenseman with all his other issues I wouldn't do it.
But you can’t move Mika and you can move Kreider. So preferences don’t matter

It will definitely be easier to move Kreider, but it doesn't mean they should. Drury has made tough decisions with Trouba, Kakko, and others on the roster already, so I think in the end he'll make the best move for the team.

One other thing that somewhat bothers me about trading home grown players is the example of "they traded Leetch, they can trade anyone". Yes, Kreider couldn't hold Leetch's jock. I hate the argument. Same for them buying out Hank.

Just because you can trade Brian Leetch or buyout a Henrik Lundqvist doesn't mean you should have done it. Pittsburgh is going through this now with their guys, and they haven't moved them in spite of the rumors, and it's only going to be worse for them in terms of rumors.

Again, I won't compare Kreider to future HOF players, but sometimes it's the deals you don't make that are beneficial. If the player wants out, it's different. Kreider hasn't expressed any inkling of wanting to be moved.

I’d trade Kreider because I believe his best days are behind him. But I don’t expect that chicken to come home to roost until the summer

I just can’t imagine they trade him in the next few weeks whilst chasing a playoff spot. Would absolutely kill the room and vibe
I’m not sure the room has had a good vibe like 5 games into the season. This team has been checked out for a long time now.

Not really concerned about the locker room vibe. If a Kreider trade makes the team better, make it. And if they sulk again it's just further proof that more guys need to go. Lindgren is in the same boat. I'm willing to miss the playoffs this year if they don't come together and start playing better and more consistently.

The Rangers shouldn't trade Lindgren then if you are concerned about the room and vibe. According to Vince Mercogliano, the Rangers room would be very disappointed if the Rangers traded Lindgren.

Say what you want about Kreider, but the guy has had a better 4 Nations than the other 3 guys combined. In two less games.
I can't until this shit is over and the NHL starts playing again.

Dang Laviolette does not care for Kaliyev

That really shone through lol
I didn't get that impression at all. He's a guy he doesn't know and trusts him at that level. Guys he does know he trusts more.

Lavi has a bit of Quinn to him in that his press conferences make sense, he seems completely reasonable, and then he promptly goes out and gives shitty vets playing shitty way too much time. Coach brain.

McAvoy threw one hit and gets credit for turning the tide instead of the ass goal that Binnington gave up.

The goaltending was the difference in that game, not the defenseman who got smoked on the only goal against and got caved in otherwise.
RB is seeing whatever fits his narrative at this point.

Guy laid a single hit but somehow we’re not talking about him getting turnstiled by McDavid on Canada’s only goal of the game and ending up with a 0-0-0 -1 stat line.

Not just playing for them, but drafted and developed by the Rangers. Had a playoff goal type reaction when he scored.

Trying to find the last time a Rangers drafted and developed player scored in a best-on-best tourney and the only thing I could find between Olympics, World Cup, 4 Nations, etc. is Doug Weight in 2002, of course he was not on the Rangers at the time of the goal.

The last time a drafted and developed Rangers player scored for the US in best on best while on the Rangers was, of course, Brian Leetch in the '98 Olympics. 27 years in-between goals.
Damn really. For some reason I thought Callahan scored for USA when they were trolling with their bottom 6 in 2014

For funsies

Charlie McAvoy 23-24 Playoffs-
13 GP 1G 5A 6P -4

Adam Fox 23-24 Playoffs (thru 13 games)-
13 GP 0G 5A 5P +3

I truly can’t believe McAvoy’s game changing physicality had him finishing his playoffs with a worse stat line than tiny Adam. You’d imagine my surprise when physical specimen Charlie also played Florida to the same number of games as tiny Adam.

What? If you don't think McAvoy's physical play wasn't a factor in that game, than you are dumber than I thought. The U.S. will miss McAvoy on Thursday.
That isn't what I said. You posted charts to cite why Fox sucks. I said post the charts from the same guy from 1 game prior where you were loving McAvoy a ton. Either the charts are worth something, or they aren't.

*Posts chart that says Fox is bad*

*Ignores chart of 1 game prior that says McAvoy was the least valuable person on the ice for USA*

Rules for thee but not for me

Laffy is still a kid even though he looks like he’s 40.

He took the personality of our soft core. Change the core and you will see a different player

Trading him for Zegras is the most brain dead thing I’ve heard here in a while. Brooks is trying too hard
100 percent regarding laffy being impressionable.

Laffy needs to be stapled to Miller's wing. Locker should be right next to Miller as well. The culture and core change of the roster was viewed as needed now so that the youth of this roster isn't indoctrinated to this soft hockey entitled BS and instead move to a more mature and assertive team.

IMO you should count McD, because while we didn't draft him we got him young enough that we 'developed him

you do have to send Mika where he wants to go b'c the nmc
howev
you can break him to make him go there
thus saying "you can't move Mika" is not entirely correct

like I've said, no defense/physical play -> no mins
and he sits
and sits
and sits
until when daddy's little girl asks why he isn't playing, he decides to accept a move rather than tell her

that's cruel and beneath me, but it is nec and it is all on Meeka

Remember when Ryan McDonagh was washed, went on to win Two Stanley Cups, and is still playing well for Tampa at age 35 while we got Libor Hajek and Brett Howden back? That was awesome.

Also threw in JT Miller for laughs.
Unironically McDonagh in his current form at 35 would be a great partner for Fox on the top pair. Never mind prime McDonagh that we traded at the time.

Yea, lets keep holding kreider, i’m sure when he has 20 points again next year through 45 games that will really increase his value. Trade him now before he has no value.

How anyone could want this team to keep this garbage country club shit is beyond me. Wake up, this is a business, who cares if he played 13 years here. He'll get his jersey retired in 5 years and you can cheer for him then. He’s nothing like stanley cup winner, conn smythe winner and HoFer Leetch so dont even try to compare the two.

Yeah, more or less what I said......apart from I wouldn't move him for whatever I could get. Drury should move him only if he can get a very good deal and for the sake of not pissing the team off again maybe he should just do it without preannouncing he's going to do it like happened with Trouba.

The Rangers do not have cap issues though and especially if the cap projections for next year are $94 or around there. There's no urgency to do it at the moment and he's a player who's scored 24 goals in his last 43 playoff games and has 3 potential playoff runs with his current term. So I wouldn't give this guy away.
