Chychrun scored his 14th goal tonight for the GW. He's going to break 20 goals and make a f*** load of money in the offseason (more than we can afford certainly.)

Lindgren has 12 goals in his life. There were people here who tried to argue that Lindgren, even after last year, was a better fit for this team than Chychrun.
but but he is well liked in the locker room

All I see is a guy getting old and only putting out 100% effort once in a while.

If he's healthy enough to play in this 4 nations things then his apologists need to eat a sock. He has been terrible this year.
I think this is the case. I noticed yesterday Marchand is in a similar state. The motor is worn down a bit. I think a few free shifts per peeps for Kreider makes a lot of sense (and have been saying this for a couple years). Play him on the third line and PP2. Or even PP1. That’s plenty.

Why not? The cap is going up. They got rid of Trouba's entire contract. Did Mika and Kreider get raises I don't know about?
I mean its pretty simple. Igor and Laf received massive raises. New contracts needed for Cuylle, KAM, and others. If you estimate the contracts it leaves 3-5m for a 3C, 1LD, and a backup goalie. So yeah not that much at all unless you move the BFFs

???

That's plenty of cap space to fill in a few roster spots. What are you trying to do going into next year?

2026 is the big UFA year. Panarin is expiring and the cap will balloon again.

By all means, get rid of bad contracts if you can, but there's no rush. 2025 is a dogshit UFA class.

uh Marner, Rantanen, Ehlers, Marchand and Chychrun is “dogshit”?? Do you remember years like 2016 or?

All the hullabaloo about Harley’s numbers, wait till RB hears about Adam Fox’s numbers.
I know. The numbers are deceiving. Shattenkirk had great numbers too. I remember people here were saying Shattenkirk was one of the best D in the NHL because of the analytic numbers. Every other post was about Shattenkirk. I don't remember the poster. One guy was predicting the Rangers would trade for Shatty every day. His shots per 60 were elite. Corsi. All of the usual stuff. Shatty was really a power play specialist and 2nd pair D. He wasn't a top pair D. Even Brooks said Lindgren-Fox are 2nd pair D. I was watching that pod on YT. I immediately said just like Shatty. People love him because he was from the NY area just like Fox. How a McDonagh-Shattenkirk D pair would bring the Rangers back to the promise land. OK. We definitely saw that.

Fox can't really defend. His performance against Boston last Saturday was putrid. In the Vegas game, Tanner Pearson went around him like Foxy wasn't there. Pearson is barely in the NHL. The 32 team NHL has extended the careers of many players. Fox has trouble with players skating down his side. It doesn't even have to be a really good skater. Marchand is on fumes and he torched Fox. You can make the argument Fox is a PP specialist and 2nd pair D. The guy has three goals this season. Two EMPTY NET GOALS. One PP goal. His last goal at even strength was last March.

Which LHD is Drury acquiring to pair with Fox? Chris is in his 4th season as Rangers GM and he hasn't even come close to adding the D to play with Fox. Who is this elusive left shot D? This D man is not turning Fox into a top pair D. Dom and Shayna have player cards and Fox's cap hit should be $11.7M and not $9.5M. Really? Trade him at his highest value. A $9.5M second pair D. Every player has outlier seasons. Fox had his outlier season during the 2021 Covid 58 game season.

Those players aren't worth their next contracts.

like remember when david clarkson was the big fish? we’ve had some seriously barren UFA classes bc if NHL players propensity for sticking around no matter what

Then why is he going to the 4 nations instead of healing up? He is not hurting or injured, he is old.
Its a fair question but Bobby Orr played in tournaments with a crazy bad knee. Wayne played with a bad back. CK is definitely playing through pain imo and should sit out the tournament.

K'Andre is the one they really have to make a decision on. Cuylle should get a nice raise but he shouldn't break the bank. He's basically having a 40 point season. The Rangers can bridge him and kick that can down the road a couple years and probably should.

Rangers could also fill in some spots from their Hartford team. Othmann, Berard are not far away and Sykora and Chmelar also doing well. Will the Rangers re-sign Quick or will they keep a goalie spot open for Dylan Garand and maybe pick up another Louis Domingue hold the fort type?

All these potential additions will save $'s on our cap. Rempe, Edstrom, Kaliyev, Vaakanainen and Brannstrom----all RFA's. They're all young NHL players. None of them should be high cap hits.

Miller
Mika
Trochek
Carrick

Are your centers for next year. We have plenty of wingers in the pipeline. Kreider will probably be gone. D, especially LD is priority.

And maybe on the PK when they are behind?

I hear you but I am not buying it. If he steps on the ice for Team USA then all the injury excuses need to stop.

I 1000% do not think CK should play for Team USA. He has already been on our injured list 2-3 times this season. I wish the injury was an excuse. The discomfort shows on his face. I saw him go against a guy 50 pounds lighter on the boards a couple of games ago and he had no strength. Wayne said there were some times as a Ranger where he had problems tying his own skates but he still played.

Next 2 are must wins.

Big names out for Pitt tonight, gotta get it done.

If they do they'll roll into Columbus for a huge game tomorrow night with a game in hand and a chance to tie them in points.
