I think a lot is riding on the next ~30 games for Mika's future as a Ranger.

I think they have to move Kreider at the very least as shitty as that is.

While that is a fair point, but just cause there is an issue doesn't mean you can't still do something in spurts. It's the sustained punishment that makes it untenable. And dangerous.

Him playing right now and going to 4 nations also flies against the face of him having an issue.

I don’t doubt he had some issues and may even have some discomfort now but it’s not serious enough to keep him from playing in exhibition games in a few weeks.

I think we need to also deal with the most likely scenario that he just may be on the way down. I think he has some statistical regression coming his way (he’s due more than a few goals on the PP and the 3 assist thing is just an absurd anomaly) so I’m sure that will flip some opinions but yeah.

We’ve seen the best we’re going to see of him as a NHL player. It’s probably only going to get worse from here on out.

The concern with Soucy is he has another year left at $3.25m I believe. So he’s not a rental. At that cap hit, he really needs to be a solid #5 or ideally partner for Fox where he’s playing a safe game. That could be the case but it’s a risk because of next years term. Vancouver is basically looking to dump him to make cap room

Kreider or Panarin are the prime asset to be moved. The organization has a glut of LWers and has for a while. Next season it’s going to be time to see what Berard and/or Othmann have. Both are natural LWers. They still have Lafreniere playing out of position.

If Tommy Novak could be had for cheap, that’s a guy I’d target for the 3C spot. Skates well. Good age. Good contract if he snaps back to form. He isn’t the most physical guy but flank him with Cuylle and Othmann or Berard and I think that could be an effective line.

No I get it, but Lindgren’s deal is up this year. Soucy has another year remaining. I’m not saying emphatically ‘no’, just that his extra season remaining is something to consider.

He does one thing well that we could use (controlled entries, and I don’t even know if that’s still true) and he has a shit load of faults that you and just about everyone else murder our current players for.

Just because Zibanejad became good later doesn’t mean that Zegras will. Play styles also matter, do you want another flashy guy who plays on the outside and is wildly inefficient?

This is before even getting to the durability concerns. He’s played like 30 games in the last 2 seasons.
