Even if you dump a contract, you now have less premium assets to trade, and less cap space than you would have had when this team needs a drastic overhaul. It’s a poor trade just based on those facts.I don't see banking on them to make *zero* moves to clear space particularly reasonable either. Especially when we know Drury wants to make changes and with the cap going up so much there will be plenty of teams that have available space to take on some of our cap hits if they want. Teams just took on Trouba/Goodrow for no reason this season which I'd have never believed possible.
Add this to your long tally list of things you were wrong about @bernmeisterjtm -
Smith, Lindgren, Kaliyev, Sykora
for
jtm + cap dump Desharnais
otherwise NO
It’s interesting to me that they decided to move a defensive prospect and not a forward. They have a glut of forwards but not much defensive depth. That tells me other moves may be lined up or being discussed that would bring in other d-men
Canucks locker room was badly broken. Either JT or EP had to go.
The ‘Nucks are now all in on Pettersson. That may be a gamble they regret over time.
I’ve been censored for quoting it before but “badly broken” is accurate.Canucks locker room was badly broken. Either JT or EP had to go.

One month older than Mika, and we can't get Mika off this team soon enough. Hopefully Miller doesn't also go the way of the dodo.BTW Miller is 31, not 33
This is the last thing we need to care about.Impressive work by Drury to build a whole team of unlikable players
Vancouver wanted Schneider. We got them to take Mancini insteadIt’s interesting to me that they decided to move a defensive prospect and not a forward. Few things. JT Miller is getting older with every post. He is 31.
He is Z without Q Hughes.
He has less goals then Z at 5v5.
1 more point then Chytil 5v5.
We gave up more than fair value for a guy that isn't capable of being the go to #1 center. He isn't barkov. And we gave all that up for a guy that was poison to his old team and had an NMC he wouldn't have for anyone else.
Are we running a f***ing charity over here?
They'll play him on PP2 because Laviolette.Bets on who is off pp1? 93/20/16?
Like when they were both on the hurricanes? Sign me upLaviolette is going to use JT like Eric Staal

No they won’t. They are trading for Miller because they want Miller to be the guy. They will probably give him the CThey'll play him on PP2 because Laviolette.
That’s your problem then. Not quite what I had in mind. Thinking more of Eric’s ranger tenure
I think of the last scene in Christmas Story where the restaurant manager is showing his waiters how to sing Deck The Halls. They'll play him on PP2 because Laviolette.
For me, there’s a couple things.
1. I hate the philosophy behind this move. This team should not be moving packages to add. We ain’t winning shit.
2. At the very least, this makes the season a lot more interesting moving forward.
3. The value’s not that bad, at least. We all love Fil but he’s glass bones and paper skin. Mancini is a good prospect but dime a dozen especially with our right side as it is. The protections on the pick are really what makes a difference here.

Did that work with Pettersson?Maybe he can at least bully Mika out of here.

Drury is making this deal because he is going to build the team around Miller and Trocheck. The Mika/Kreider era is going to be over real quick.
Not saying it’s the right move, but it’s definitely the break up the country club move
