Necas is also a rental so that needs to be kept in mind. Jack Drury is…fine? He tries hard and the defense is good, but I just don’t see any evidence he is every going to put up consistent offense

It’s a great return assuming they adapt to the Avs system. Fairly cost controlled top 6 C, Middle 6 C (bottom 6 at worst), 2nd and 4th.

According to PuckPedia, they have about 4.6 mil in LTIR space. The deal saves them another 1 mil, roughly. Maybe as much as 1.8 mil since they traded 1 for 2 and can now send someone down (probably Wagner, who's on a 2-way deal).
If they send Mittelstadt the other way, they can make the deal work for EP or Miller.

This is what I don't get. Chicago trades Hall and retains 4.75m on Rantanen and only gets a 3rd rounder? That amount of retention alone is usually worth a 2nd and Hall surely had value in the 4th-5th round range, no? I would've thought at least a 2nd for this. I guess it's their own 3rd coming back so it's like a late 2nd but still, feel like Chicago got hosed here.
that would be interesting. If Crosby goes, I assume Malkin probably wants out and then the Pens will go into rebuild/get a franchise forward at #1 mode; but I also assume they'll be stuck with Letang and Karlsson as no-one is taking those contracts
